I saw BK Lobster just opened (now closed - temporarily?)

I had some last weekend, not sure what I had - one was the classic lobster roll, I think. I wasn't really all that impressed, though I do tend to find lobster roll disappointing, so from that I could technically say it lived up to expectations. Fries were seasoned well, but floppy.

There is a sign where Kun Thai used to be in downtown Short Hills that it’s going to be a Jack’s. I’ve eaten at the Montclair one and liked it a lot. (Did not have a lobster roll, however.)

Our fries were floppy, too, but jamie’s photos include a few that look worth snatching.

I thought I read they are having trouble staffing! They were supposed to open in April initially from what I read

Phrasing.

Yeah, i was going with the 3rd one.

And with additional "floppy."

You and Jackie Collins.

I jest. "Worth [any other synonym-ing]."

Finally went yesterday. Had a Connecticut roll. Lunch special was about $20. Fair price IMO. However sad to report food was very disappointing. No large pieces of lobster which was mostly shredded. The lobster flavor was totally overwhelmed with their spice mix. Fries were also flavored with the same mix. Lobster is delicious on its own. No need to smother it with other flavors.

Forget the rolls. Gimme Lobstah Mac & Cheese like this (at Luke's, back in the day) & I'm a happy Clamdigger...

 Gimme a #3 on the half-shell.

The newish lobster roll place at the Short Hills end of Millburn Ave. has good reviews but we found it to be expensive.  Maybe they're all expensive.  We were never part of the cult of the lobster roll - I never had one before - but the food was good.  Just above my price point for take out.

Anyone try it out yet?

Only went once, but it was meh...Jack's Shack on Millburn Avenue is much better.

The lobster mac and cheese at Jack's (Millburn and Montclair) is incredible!

hmm, will need to try this soon!

Looks like it's where the Thai place used to be.

BK Lobster did close.  Anything lined up to take it's place?

Upon further inspection:

If I had $1 for every place whose “temporary” closure turned out to be permanent, I’d have a lot of dollars. Especially with zero info provided about reason for closure or planned reopening date.

It seems really tough for a lobster roll place not by the shore to make it to me.

Especially at what a least feels like a premium price point.

Not a good sign (literally and figuratively).

Yeah - the BK Lobster main site no longer shows Maplewood as a location.

To those of you whose panties are in a twist over the closure of your local BKLobster franchise: GOOD NEWS! BK's newest franchise will be soon opening in the Edison Lofts in West Orange, including a BAR! Huzzah.

What exactly are lobster rolls the Brooklyn way? Is there a Brooklyn lobster roll tradition?

Is it me or is that spot just snake-bit?

Cursed.

What has it been over the past few years?  Was Wok Star the first food establishment there?  Hmm, maybe it was the Belmont Eatery?

Pop Pop's Shoes had a good run.

Aww, shucks!    confused

(I know, I know... you meant the restaurant, which I'm not related to...  I liked the restaurant well enough also.)

I don't know. The sole (no relation) I got there was barely edible.
