I'm hearing rumors/speculation that Trump may withdraw....

I hear what you're saying about McConnell's pledge of obstructionism. But it's important for people to remember that the POTUS is not the "boss" of Congress.

+10

That is very true, but when the leader of the opposition more or less says that his policy is to make the POTUS fail, it doesn't help the image of government.

I don't understand. There is no danger if we overestimate it. There is grave danger if we underestimate it.

Don't overestimate it either. For example

My 85 yr old mom lives in Pt. St. Lucie and recently lost her only Democratic friend. While having dinner last week with another friend, a staunch Republican, her friend announced that she is no longer entertaining voting for Trump and will vote for Hillary. She said he is just too crazy.

It depends who you mean by "we". I was addressing the discussion here. Whatever we on MOL say is not a danger to anything.

The Clinton campaign is not taking anything for granted. They are professionals and most professionals believe that you should always run as if you are behind.

David Malpass, one of the economists on the advisory board, is on CNBC now talking about Trumponomics.

The mantra - Trump is the economic growth candidate.

The jobs report released this morning was much better than expected and showed strong growth.  US employment increased more than expected in July,   average hourly wages increased and more people entered the labor market.

Agreed.

I'm hearing from my sources that Trump is actually a shapeshifting subterranean lizard creature sent from Inner Hollow Earth to destroy humanity.  Morning Joe will be all over this story tomorrow morning.

I suppose it's easy to be sarcastic about Trump.  Especially when there is a lot of overstatement about how dangerous he was.

But a lot of people said the same things about GW Bush -- how bad could he be? His advisors will know the stuff he doesn't know. The permanent bureaucracy will stymie him.

But then he went and invaded Iraq for bogus reasons. Hundreds of thousands of people, maybe as many as a million died as a result. So people can yuk it up about how over-the-top some of the hand wringing is getting. But if you're Iraqi, the notion of the amount of damage a U.S. president can do is gravely serious.

As did Mike Pence, But Donald has completely opposite responses to both identical votes.

You're right, he's not, but McConnell was also thwarting the majority congress and the will of the American people.  WE THE PEOPLE voted in a super majority in the senate and a large majority in congress to aid Obama with his agenda and McConnell chose to delay the seating of Sen Al Franken on a technicality so that they could give the middle finger to the American people.  McConnell only cares about party, not about the country and the American people.

Hillary concurred based on the assumption that the evidence was reliable and not bogus.  Had Congress known the evidence was bogus I doubt they would had supported it.

Joe Biden, John Kerry, Harry Reid, and a majority of the rest of the Senate Democrats also concurred. They were acting on bad information fed to them by the Bush administration and certain disastrously credulous journalists. It was the wrong call, and it's true that some other Democrats made the right one, but the situation at the time was not remotely as clear-cut as some people make it seem in retrospect.

Barack Obama was against it for all the right reasons.

I believe that Obama is the only person evr to become President as a result, in part, of opposing war.

Too bad this country hasn't had more of those.

Tons of people are talking about Donald Trump being a Clinton plant to implode Republican Party....

Good. Let them think that.

That's almost as brilliant as Obama, the Kenyan/Muslim/Socialist, faking his birth certificate and planting a birth notice in the Hawaii newspapers 50 plus years ago!

I wonder how much the Clintons are paying Donald.

I'm just sitting back and watching the Republican Party implode.  It truly is, as the brilliant Bobby Jindal said, the "Party of Stupid."

The DNC  and Clintons are also responsible for the  death of a person involved in the fraud suit against the DNC and the apparent suicide of a researcher and critic of the Clintons.

btw - It was posted on the SOMA for Bernie Facebook page.

This "Trump vs Trump" should be run everywhere as a public service announcement.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kSE-XoVKaXg

No one will run that as a "public service message", but there are certainly PACs that will run it or part of it.

For the record your link says "lead-attorney" the man was not an attorney, he was a process server.

It would be nice to have a real assessment done

glib and superficial charm
grandiose (exaggeratedly high) estimation of self
need for stimulation
pathological lying
cunning and manipulativeness
lack of remorse or guilt
shallow affect (superficial emotional responsiveness)
callousness and lack of empathy
parasitic
lifestyle
poor behavioral controls
sexual promiscuity
early behavior problems
lack of realistic long-term goals
impulsivity

irresponsibility
failure to accept responsibility for own actions
many short-term marital relationships
juvenile delinquency
revocation of conditional release
criminal versatility

Although I do believe he probably would have been against the war. He did not vote as he was not in office until 2005. One never knows how one is going to vote no matter what you think of war.   New York was hit hard and she was the senator from New York.  Everyone was pushing if the UN agrees.   Showing that the US was unified was being pushed.  Colin Powell was fooled and felt used. It amazed me that many of the young were not against it. But than there was no draft like Vietnam.

Speaking of which.  That dunderhead Mika cannot run the show without that guy.  I guess his double-her salary makes sense.

I  think the show is trying to give Mika a more serious role. She did drive me crazy when I first started watching. It's not her politics as much as her delivery. I think the show set her up to be Joe's straight man. I don't know if she has her new rhythm down yet. In the words of both Ryan and Trump, "I'm not there yet."

The show does have a serious guest list. Its the best wake up news show.

Interesting the way that they started off enjoying Trump's phone ins and now both are taking a strong position against him. Much the way many people went from amused to horrified.

they know who butters their bread.

Mika seems dumb as a post, unfortunately. For weeks and weeks she has had exactly one idea, which is almost literally the only thing she ever says (and she talks a lot): mainstream Republicans should withdraw their endorsements of Trump, and she doesn't understand why they haven't. That's it. The only thing she talks about. I like the show a lot otherwise, but when she's hosting solo it's truly unwatchable. I do find it amusing how pained the rest of the panelists always look whenever she opens her mouth.

I said this to my husband back in the spring....and am still waiting for the "joke" to be over...

Actually, I'm waiting for Trump to drop out, then turn to his "followers" and tell them to take a good look at how pathetic they really are. A girl can dream....
