 Precisely...

More than a few CEOs have an out-sized view of themselves and their importance.  Schultz appears to be cast in that mold.

Plus there is the usual mistake which we are all guilty of to some degree in thinking that the President can do everything on his/her own bypassing that whole 3 coequal branches of government vision.

That's not the only beverage served at Starbucks that could use some "making great again".

Howard Schultz: America’s New Banality Supervillain

Will the former Starbucks CEO and author of a stunningly boring corporate memoir help re-elect Donald Trump?

https://www.rollingstone.com/politics/politics-features/howard-schultz-trump-786516/

Scientists may someday find the edge of the universe, but there is no end to the delusional self-regard of America’s one-percenters, as former Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz proved this week.

Sunday night on 60 Minutes, Schultz announced he was considering a run for president as an independent. The Twitter reaction was like something out of 28 Days Later: mobs of Trump-exhausted Americans sprinting to bite his face off. At a bookstore appearance for his new memoir, a heckler shouted “Go back to Davos!”

Why the severe reaction? Schultz openly declared his decision to run as an Independent was based on the idea that he’d have to “lean left” to win the Democratic nomination. This is rich-speak for “I obviously couldn’t win the nomination if I had to compete honestly.”

Howard Schultz got a CNN townhall because he's a billionaire freak show.  Looks like he thought he could just wing it.

Bernie responds to Howard Schultz blackmailing the Democrats:

All right, that’s his reason. I still can’t figure out how Sanders got one. I tried searching for an answer on Google, the largest source of his individual donations, but nothing came up. Coincidence?

There are simultaneously too many CNN Townhalls and not enough.

It's like Schrödinger's scheduling.

Its a very good response. Sadly our society worships the rich, especially billionaires. You can can be a dribbling bs billionaire and still be given more exposure and gravitas than the truly intelligent. Out real God is $$$.

As for finance reform, forcing candidates only raise from grass roots, forget it. It would be ineffectual thanks to Citizens United. Corporations cannot be prevented from spending big money on elections.

I was surprised CNN gave him one, because I generally think they are against him, but he is very popular (as his first day donations show) and is considered a front runner, despite the establishment slams against him.  Also, they probably feel like they have to at least pretend to be neutral.

Also, they have given him townhalls in the past to talk about healthcare and some other topics--and I think the ratings were good on those, so there is that.
