How To Park Like a Tool

The Maplewood equivalent is parking at the top of Jefferson where it meets Ridgewood...

Really wish my wife still was a consultant. She was always on long term projects, and got rentals with the projects. If we came across someone parked like some of these people, I was sure to block their driver door.

May get flamed, but I got my retardent suit on, and not much worse then some of the notes other have left on the cars.

Hey, I tried! But my car wouldn't fit. My car is a 20-year-old beater and I don't care what happens to the paint job.

And this one. Last night at Columbia High back to school.

Not exactly a parking issue but I need to vent!!! Someone stops and blocks the commuter parking lot entrance by the Rescue Squad in the morning at 715 to let a passenger off. There were a number of us today trying to get in to catch the 720 train...aarghh! Suggestions? Edited to add that the person doesn't just pop out of the car.

Lean on the horn? Nasty finger gestures? Petition township for a "No Passenger Drop-Off" sign?

Print up some flyers that include a map to the pickup/dropoff area. Or maybe a map to the Wells Fargo right across the street that doesn't open till 8.

Unless he fed the meter for both 306 & 307, the tool deserves a nice ticket.

I thought the same exact thing! lol

Impressive response:

All that plastic wrap cost some real money.

Post-its are even more expensive.

At Whole foods this weekend. My car is on the right. The spots are huge and no one was to the left of the Audi.

That's actually pretty orderly. Clearly, everyone there except for one person has agreed that they should park diagonally.

They seem to regard painted lines as 'suggestions', which is how I feel about most 'No Turn on Red' signs.

Perhaps there was someone to the left of the Audi when they parked there.

ParticleMan, I think it was a politician driving the Audi. Reason 342.

The funny part is there are at least two other cars in the lot parked over their lines.

I shot this yesterday in Greenwich Village. It's not very clear, but the right rear tire is on the curb.

Tom, I think in NYC, if it's not all 4 tires on the sidewalk, it's a good parking job... especially for NYPD. Enjoy the city!

Now I regret not taking a picture of the mad parking skills of one driver behind Bank of America who parked next to me.

Trust me the thought crossed my mind i should photograph this as I stood there determining the best possible way I could get INTO my car.

Literally, pulled in like they were going to make full circular turn and left their front bumper inches from my car on the drivers side. I was parked neatly and straight between the lines. I had to get in on the passenger side.

I get up on the curb a lot in NYC. Sometimes they're low and you can't feel them. I just consider myself lucky I found a space I could fit into in the first place!

tom, I guess a tire on the curb is better than too far out. You can get ticketed for either, but I'm guessing that since too far out is more disruptive, you're more likely to get a ticket for that.

It's times like those when I'm glad my car is a beater and I don't care sbout yhe little dam a ge I'll cause to my car by repeatedly banging his car with my door.

the best was when I was at the mall and someone parked so close to my passenger side that just opening the sliding door on the minivan caused it to scrape against their side.

I had an interesting experience at the Millburn Mall this week. I pulled into the lot and found - you guessed it - a car whose driver side tires were squarely ON the dividing line of the space. Since I was driving our small car I pulled in normally... about 12" from the other car's driver's side door. Yes, a classic box in!

Then when I got out and went into Walgreens I noticed a very high percentage of older people (like, 65 and up)... put two and two together... and moved my car. I only hope and pray that I didn't let some 30something douchebag off the hook but I will never know.
