How to kick this cough?

So, I've had this cough for a couple of weeks, it's worse at night.  Anyone else experiencing this?  I held back from posting about it - but when I went to stop and shop the entire Ricola section was pretty wiped out.  So it might be fairly common at the moment.

yes. - negative

Sorry you're dealing with this, it's really miserable!

Lots and lots of water (more than you think), humidifier, Ricola or whatever works even temporarily so the cough doesn't build on itself, breathe through nose, elevate your head a little at night.

All this assumes it's a "dry" cough, nothing coming up?  Hope you'll feel better soon.

(also, goodness, there's a ton of stuff about this via google, maybe one of the suggestions will work for you)

If for sure nothing is coming up, Delsym or equivalent generic cough suppressant.

that’s what I used. 12 hour cough. Worse coughing at night, took about a week to get rid of it,

Cool, maybe I'll give that a go next - I've been taking some mucinex (almost out of it). It has the same thing as Delsym - Dextromethorphan.

That’s funny because I hate mucinex in any form. Delsym tastes much better.

Sinus rinse? IF its caused by allergies, rinse will get rid of it.

Asian flu (anybody else old enough to remember that?) caused me coughing which any over the counter remedy did not help.  The pharmacist suggested the only behind the counter thing that cured the cough.  I'm sure it is highly regulated now and may not be available without a prescription.  Codine-terpinhydrate was a blessing.

if you have had this cough for a while and it has not gone away, it is time to see the doctor.

aw stinks. DH after a booster had a cough like a dry hack (it wasn't annoying at alllllllll lol).  it went away in time, but ugh. maybe tea w honey can help.

Ricola original ceased to be available at Costco beginning at least six or eight months ago. When I asked a supervisor, he checked the database and told me it was “discontinued“. Maybe there is a production problem, rather than a local run on Ricola. Though typically, at Costco, when there is a production problem, that will be noted, rather than discontinued status being applied.

Have you done any further testing?

I started with a bad cough about a week ago.  Test was negative.

Tested again a few days later - it came up positive.

After I recovered from Covid, I had a lingering smokers type cough that lasted about a month.

After more than a week of coughing I'm beginning to think its time to visit my physician. Decongestants and anti coughing have helped and I'm beginning to eat again. Somehow I've developed pink eye in both eyes and the constant discharge is driving me insane. Everything I read about this indicates it is contagious so I'm thinking about an initial remote consult.

There is definitely something going around - the top shelf in the flu/cold section at CVS was wiped out.  One pack left of normal Ricola - a few other varieties were available.

Last time I had something like this is was more like bronchitis.

Amazon sells Ricola

I got Delsym - it's pretty decent - the reviews are pretty lousy on WebMD:

https://www.webmd.com/drugs/drugreview-149705-delsym-12-hour-oral?drugid=149705&drugname=delsym

I feel fine - hardly coughing.  It's mostly annoying when I need to talk.  grin

I am on the tail end of what I believe was the flu (negative Covid test) It got  progressively better but what lingered was a nagging cough that did not allow me to sleep well. I finally had to break down and do a Teladoc appt and received antibiotics and pills for the cough which is working. Good luck

If you still have a cough, strong advice is to go see the doctor.
