For about six months I commuted from SOMa to West 168th St., and it was pretty easy as the A express is at NY Penn Station and stopped right by work (Columbia U. Medical Center). About 75 minutes on a good day. I'd think City College is about same, though I forget how far that is from subway. It's also an interesting part of the city to get to know.
Thanks. I'm not sure of the specifics, but it looks like (if I'm guessing the right building), it's a 9-minute walk from the subway.
