Hillary at Benghazi Hearings

What a bad optic it was for the Republicans. A bunch of angry white males trying to intimidate and corner HRC, yelling and losing their cool. All the while HRC calmly and cogently responded to their questions - not needing a break, losing her cool, or breaking down, which is what they wanted. It backfired on them. It backfired on them because this was a sham hearing and a sham investigation. Everyone knows it.

Where's ajc? Maybe he knows what's going to happen. This has been such a witch hunt from the start - what a sad waste of time.

If you have something - SHOW IT! It shouldn't be this difficult. And Smith nailed it - this is truly a prosecution of Hillary and not a true investigation.
Smith and Cummings was on target and Hillary stood her ground. ALL Republicans on that committee are an embarrassment to the COUNTRY. No wonder Trump and Carson are leading in the Republican polls. Total waste of time.
Ahhh...ajc is probably overdosing on his pancakes after that performance by his party.
FTFY

Further fixed.

Wow. After that performance, Bernie Sanders and the entire GOP primary field might want to get indicted by a Gowdy-led committee.
Is the Benghazi Committee subject to the FCC Equal Time Rule?

Yup!

Ok, I'll bring it up. She was amazing, stoic and all around terrific, so much so that I made a hefty contribution to her campaign as acknowledgement. I'm sure that wasn't what the committee was aiming for when they insisted on continuing this charade, But how did she (or any of them) survive without potty breaks? I watched as much as I could and I had to put it on pause several times to head off to the bathroom!! cheese

Good one! I really like this:

Why does it look like Trey Gowdy is covered in lube?

He's very shiny.
Sweat.

Ha!

Yeah, flop sweat. They sure showed that Hillary. question When Gowdy was asked what new information he had acquired as a result of the marathon hearing, his response was that he'd have to look at the transcripts. oh oh

And, left or right the smart money was always accurate regarding this outcome. They're deranged by hatred of anything HRC/BHO and HRC is both smarter and more practiced at this type of debate. It's classic Wile E. Coyote/roadrunner stuff. Can't wait until their next Acme product explodes in their faces.

She was fantastic. A ridiculous hearing and she made sure she proved that without losing her cool or showing the exasperation that was inside her. Madame President

As bob Woodward said on cnn...it was an 11 hour interview for the presidency and she passed with flying colors! She was impressive, smart, cool as a cucumber and grace under pressure. While I have my issues with her...she so totally convinced me that she has all the right stuff to be president. She was amazing

I wonder what Gowdy and Co. really think of this process. It is entirely possible that they think it was time well-spent. They may not understand what it means to be the target of jokes at this point.

Wasn't it Carl Bernstein? It isn't going to change the minds of anyone who hates her. Hopefully there are people who can still be persuaded. Though I cannot imagine what any presidency will be like with the tea party-ers still refusing any compromise.

That's why attention needs to be paid to the House and Senate races, not just the Presidential campaign.

This is my take on the situation. When I read blogs and posts from friends who are right wingers they 100% feel like she came off terribly, and that Gowdy et al were doing God's work. They say that she was evasive, arrogant, dismissive. They are cackling with glee over how she blew a critical part of the hearing (in their eyes)--at one point her aide handed her some notes, and the Rep grilling her sneered that he would be glad to pause while she perused her notes. Hillary snapped back that she can do more than one thing at a time, except she forgot to turn her mic back on to say this--proving that she indeed could NOT do more than one thing at a time.

It was like there were two hearings going on simultaneously. If you read the posts by Hillary bashers (both Sanders supporters and GOP supporters), you would think this was a Watergate-like hearing where the witness got fried by the weight of evidence and logic. If you read posts by Hillary supporters (as well as non-aligned liberals), you would think this was a witch-hunt kangaroo court where the witness made the court appear witless.

But as the smoke clears and a new day dawns, to my eyes it looks like Hillary appeared presidential and like the adult in the room, which is going to help her a ton. Combine this with her solid performance in the first debate and she is well on her way to locking up the Democratic nomination. Of course, there is a long way between today and the general election, and she could easily implode over something else, but right now she is riding a huge wave of positive momentum.

Lol...see I can't even remember something that happened less than 24 hours ago and her recall and eloquence were remarkable...yes it was probably Carl Bernstein on cnn last night

Hillary was like

Here's the pic that was linked to above - really sums it up. I clicked on Fox for a second last night and the ticker read - Clinton Owns Benghazi.

Though disappointing because it takes the wind out of Bernie's sails, this nails the only important thing regarding the campaign that's happened in the last month, and it's pretty big.

This improves the standing of HRC in my eyes. She was able to put up with a bunch of frat boys for 11 hours straight without losing her cool. That's impressive.

Too bad the mic was fixed to the desk. She could've dropped it dramatically at the end.

What must all this Hillary praise feel like in GOP circles? Even wingnuts are criticizing the panel.

...albeit for reasons other than HRC support.

This is what frightens me-a giant mass of people for whom no amount of actual information, common sense, or logic can make a dent in their willfull ignorance. I try to avoid these folks in real life, but it scares me to know there are so many of them out there!!

So I just went to FOXNEWS.com and tried to find Fox's take on last night.

Headline was about the Mexican Hurricane.

About 12 items listed in the small news section, everything from Lamar Oden and Khloe to Chafee ending his bid.

Scroll allllllll the way Downnnnn to the very bottom of the page under ALL the crap that passes as news and there in about 8 point type is

#5Hillary Clinton's Benghazi testimony is over. Looks like Kevin McCarthy told the truth

If you weren't looking for it, buried under every piece of crap that passes for news at Fox, you srely wouldn't find it.

FOXNEWS We Report, You Decide|

How can one decide if they don't report????

from the Onion..

WASHINGTON—Saying it represented the most efficient use of the panel’s time, members of the House Select Committee on Benghazi instructed Hillary Clinton on Thursday to limit her answers to “I failed the American people.” “We are going to ask that you confine your remarks today to ‘I failed the American people,’ or variations such as ‘I am to blame for this atrocity’ or ‘There is innocent blood on my hands,’” said chairman Trey Gowdy (R-SC), explaining that the committee and the nation as a whole were solely interested in testimony in which the former secretary of state succinctly accepted all blame for the 2012 attacks that left four Americans dead. “In order to ensure we get the information we need, it’s vital that you simply and repeatedly own up to your criminal lapse in judgment, though you are free to declare yourself responsible for other disastrous failures of the U.S. government if you wish.” At press time, committee members were instructing Clinton to simply say that she was withdrawing from the 2016 presidential campaign.

Will there be more 11 hour hearings? Or is this over now until the party of the ridiculous presents their findings again ad nauseum? Amateur here.

Many of them live in your community. Not all are tinfoil hat wearing Teapartistas. And they vote.

By now these entrenched beliefs shouldn't be a surprise.

Over the years we've seen evidence of willfull ignorance. Its as plain as the noses on our faces when over 40% of Republicans believe Obama is a Muslim and over 20% believe he's not born here.
