Who told you it's not to code? The town? Or the basement contractor?
Was the pump work permitted and inspected? (Or is a permit required for that kind of work?)
We have a hydro back-up sump pump. It was never inspected by the town, that I know of, so maybe mine is not up to code either! Do you really need a permit for this work? Never occurred to me, and certainly my contractor did not suggest.

Call the town and ask, they will put you through to the inspectors, you don't have to tell them who you are, they will advise. I don't know about the check gauge but a separate discharge line I beleive is required.
The code is new and kinda overkill. Many have been put in with a combination discharge line for both pumps and is fine as long as nothing goes wrong with that line like freezing. The combination feed check valve is overkill and very expensive wich can add a lot more to installation price as well as the separate discharge pipe.
I certainly do not have a separate discharge line for the back-up pump! ...and cannot imagine doing that -- seems pretty unnecessary. I guess I'll live without.

We hired a local company (rec'd often on this board) to install a hydro backup.
We are now having basement finished and told the hydro backup was not done to code. A check gauge and separate discharge line were not installed.
any idea if the above mentioned is necessary to be up to code?
