Give me a break for the absurdity of making it all about race

BERENGER: And you consider all this natural?

DUDARD: What could be more natural than a rhinoceros?

BERENGER: Yes, but for a man to turn into a rhinoceros is abnormal beyond question.

DUDARD: Well, of course, that's a matter of opinion...

Wonder how the Jets will do this year?  4-12?

Rumors were Marshall was a problem in the locker room. With him gone, Dylan Donahue as a draft pick and a battle for QB between McCown, Petty & Hackenburg, they should be whiter on the field. That should help.

 oh oh

Given her clear world view I am sure that Ms. Lawson-Muhammad (and many others) do in fact see the failure to resign Marshall and Gino Smith as indications of racism on the part of the Jets.

I think you intended to reference Ms. Lawson-Muhammad in your little 'joke' here, but confused her with Ms. Wright. Both are Black women, but they have very different voting histories on the BOE.

My mistake. Thank you for pointing it out. I will correct. But I did not do it for the reason you imply. As you know I do not live in the district. But it is not a "joke". People who make everything about race as in the comment that started the thread make everything about race.

How privileged some are about not having to "make everything about race".

And people who think that nothing should be about race make it clear how little of the world, outside their bubble, they truly understand.

what the hell is this thread about?

Race, I think.

But then, isn't every thread about politics or education about race?

Its all BS.

Well, I think this mostly sums up the privilege issue.   We are tired of all these Chatham and Millburn kids coming to town, loitering and littering, conducting themselves like animals, sub-human species.  Waiting to hear how the Maplewood Ethical Cultural Society proponents explain this away.

White privilege. Bull sh-t.

I seem to remember a sporting event between Chatham and Millburn High Schools where the Chatham fans shouted anti-semitic slogans at the Millburn team.

It's about 42 posts too long.

if you say so.

Ms. Wright did voice her agreement with Ms. Lawson-Muhammad's statement at the time.

Gilgul/Zoinks clearly mixed them up. Ms. Wright's quote of "Bam", does not preclude me from pointing this out.

From your attempted defense of Gilgul, can I conclude that you agree with him that nothing should be made of race?

You pointed it out. I thanked you and corrected. End of story.

But point of op continues. Once again an attempt was made to make something that has nothing to do with race about race.

If anything MSO is TOO well off. If it had a poorer demographic it could have gotten a shiny and very expensive new high school courtesy of the state as the other Oranges have gotten.

I don't agree with Ms L-M that the indication that we may start seriously looking at facilities expansion is primarily about race.  But I also disagree with the notion that it has nothing to do with it at all.  It just isn't an all or nothing thing and racial concerns permeate a great many of our education issues, for better or worse.

Your point is so clearly and obviously correct that it's incredible that it has to be stated.

well, you know. gilgul can be pretty slow when it comes to racism. We have to repeat stuff a lot.

Just don't get why any of this is on gilgul's radar in the first place. Not in the school district.

Because he is seeking validation for his self-serving world view that racism doesn't exist, while anti-Semitism impacts everything.

If he had a bit more self-awareness, he'd realize that he has said things in the past that are rather similar in perspective to Ms. L-M's quote, but from a lens of anti-Semitism rather than racism.

excellent point.

That's because there wasn't a vote involved.

I get it.  heh-heh.

I'm guessing the LeBron vandalism and the noose at the museum weren't about race either.

Most poignant thing James said was something about it not mattering how rich, celebrated, etc. you are, you're still a target.

Reminds me of the line (usually attributed to Malcolm X), what does a white man call a black man with a PhD? A ni$$er.

I am truly sorry and appalled that LJ's house was vandalized.  And, no doubt some miscreant(s) thought this was the way to make their feelings known.  However, this/these miscreant(s) do not represent the rest of America.  They are just that miscreant cowards who have nothing substantive to say and who threatened LJ and his family with this act (showing up at someone's house for vandalism is a threat IMHO).  The miscreant(s) should be condemned in the strongest terms.  And, hopefully this/these miscreants will be caught and brought to justice.
