For Justmelaura's funeral expenses

Art,

Mem made the arrangements with Morrow and set up the gofundme site. I will try to find her number and pm it to you so you can call her

The family is possibly at her brother in laws service today. I can't fathom the grief.

@sarahzm I sent you a FB message. Art and I spoke and I gave him lots of info.

Thank you Wendy, Sarahzm, and Mary...

I've just been in touch with Tommy and he asked me to go ahead with the Repast after the service at Morrow Memorial on Thursday. He said he will call me later when he gets home to discuss it in more detail. As Wendy suggested, I'll start another thread for the Repast to lay out the plans, and hopefully Jamie will add it to the other Announcements.

Laura's fund is now over $20,000. I recognize some names on the list of donors for whom I know funds are very very tight. Laura would have done no less.

This just makes my head explode. To have to do this for one family member this week, then another next week. No wonder I'm still crying.

God Bless @mem for setting up the fund--just finished there--the quickly exceeded goal is such a tribute and will surely be so helpful

I keep going to the site and can't help smiling with each increase. To have the financial burden completely lifted for Laura's family is such a blessing.

Thank you mem for setting this up and so happy to be part of a community that recognized how important it was to contribute to lessen the worries to the family in this matter. I am sure it was a great relief to them to not have this worry in addition to the immense pain of losing their love of all time.

Corey

Just made our donation, thank you Laura for making a difference in our community. May your light continue to shine as a path for your family and community.

It's very nice. it's easy to forget how expensive it can be beyond the service. All sorts of contracts and agreements outlast us and go right to the estate.

I bring it up just so if people see how the overwhelming support has hit the initial goal set there's still a great value in participating.

WOW!! Almost $24k in one day. I am so, so proud of our two towns.

Such an honor to Laura's memory!

Pretty sure there are many more than two towns but what a community indeed.

Folks have been thanking mem, and deservedly... When I first read about Laura's Fund, my thought was "Of COURSE it was mem who set this up!"

@mem: You carry your own torch, and it seems you've picked Laura's up as well. My respects, young lady.

what happens to the extra funds, if there are any?

That's up to Laura's family, I imagine.

I'm sure at a time like this there are no extra funds. Just say'n...

Please remember Laura's sister, who suffered two terrible losses just a few days apart.

with all due respect, I am sure people donating, myself included, hope there will be extra funds that will go to her children and family. Bless your heart for your concern

In retrospect, not worth the comment.

I hope there are lots and lots of "extra" funds. @sarahzm, I saw what you did there.

^^This.^^

And oh oh

It's good if they get extra money. In fact, I wish someone could do more to raise money for her and her sister"s family. How about a Laura Nichols cookbook for sale locally? More funds could be raised and everyone could get the seceret for making Crack Bread at home.

There is a separate fund-raising effort for the sister's family, beyond the funeral expenses one. I'm sure they can always use more, because it's going to be a very tough row to hoe for them for some time to come.

Now THAT is a good idea!

Well said.

The money will hopefully help in more ways than one and allow the family to focus on each other. The stress of an unexpected loss of a parent and partner is unfathomable.

I see a live music fundraiser in the future.
