Floods Hill Concerts?

Are these happening this year? Haven't heard anything...

Thanks RobB. Wouldn't load for me, though.

I did see a page on the Rec site that referred to these, but it had both 2014 and 2015 on the page, so I wasn't sure if it was new or outdated.

Just a bit surprised that there has not already been a thread or any discussion on this, unless I missed it somehow.

Edited to add - finally loaded. Missed 3 already - bummer.

I think two of three so far have been cancelled due to weather. They used to have them in Sopac instead but I guess Sopac isn't participating this year.

South Orange Summer Nights
The beloved summer program Concerts in the Park has a new name.
South Orange Summer Nights is co-presented by the Village of South Orange, the Baird, and the South Orange Performing Arts Center and offers free outdoor performances and movies that thousands of concert-goers enjoy each year.
Every Wednesday night in July at 7:30 p.m. on Flood’s Hill (Meadowland Park), “Taste the Music” presents and exciting line-up of some of today’s top performers in soul, reggae, pop, rock ‘n roll and more.
An expanded number of vendors will provide food and beverages including lobster rolls and barbeque ribs, wood-fired pizza, pretzels, hot dogs, deep-fried Oreos and funnel cake!
Sign-up for the SOPAC E-News to receive notices about the performance schedule.
“Taste the Music”
July 1 | Mark Murphy and Friends (Singer-Songwriters)
July 8 | Max Headroom & the Counterfeiters (80s Tribute & Covers)
July 15 | Dub Proof & Eastbourne (Reggae)
July 22 | Rave On & Bottle Cap Rockets (Rock ‘n Roll & Rockabilly)
July 29 | Rock the Hill (Garage Bands)

“Moonlit Movies”
Wednesday evenings in August bring “Moonlit Movies” to Flood’s Hill. Each movie screening begins at 7:45PM.
August 12 | Ferris Bueller’s Day Off (Rated PG-13)
August 19 | Dirty Dancing (Rated PG-13)
Introduced by Baby’s Mother and Tony Award-winner Kelly Bishop
August 26 | Enchanted (Rated PG)

There have been a few posts on this I think, including one I started (though it didn't get a lot of participation):

One was cancelled for rain, but last week's did happen.

Also, if you're on Facebook, following SOPAC and other South Orange pages is a good way to get up-to-date info too!

July 29 is local bands Sputnik 5 and Big Radio

only one was canceled. They have an ad or post on the left of the home page, I think. There are also posters throughout town on the info kiosks. it's also on the sopac website. Tonight will be perfect weather for a concert! We're planning on trying some food truck fare tonight - Oink and Moo, here we come!

Guess I'm a victim of the fractured media landscape, as I haven't really branched out into all of those other channels. I go to the message board directly, not through the home page. I never check the kiosks or the sopac website. And not into Facebook in the least, or Twitter.

Was used to getting all of my local information here on the message board and there was no thread in either Arts and Entertainment or in South Orange specific. Didn't think to look in Virtual Cafe...

The South Orange Village Center Alliance emails are a great source of information for goings-on about town:

These Floods Hill audiences are incredibly rude. So many people having such loud conversations it's hard to hear the band almost.

Big Radio will be loud enough that won't be a problem grin

I live half a mile away, in the opposite direction of the speakers, and I can hear "That'll Be The Day" playing right now clear as day from my house.

We went to the concert last night. The music was great!!! Yes, it is really more like a big town wide picnic than concert. But I go, knowing it will be that way. The music was fun, and last night's band gave us an extra 15 minutes of wonderful Buddy Holly classics.
