Encouraging news. Glad your brain seems to be adjusting to the floaters.

The truth is the floaters are bothering me less than 2-3 weeks ago. And he might be right that after 30 days, I won't notice them at all.
I know it's hard to believe, but it's often true. Hang in there. You'll always notice them, but they'll be a minor annoyance.

If I develop them at some point in the left eye as well, as the Dr suggested I will, that will be difficult to abide.

My apologies for the lack of update. I've been very busy.
I went Mar-23 to see the retinal specialist in NYC. After significant dilation and an extensive round of exams, the retinal specialist agreed that, yes, I have floaters (thank you very much, Dr. Obvious). He also said that he'd like to wait 30 days before scheduling any treatments because his floaters patients always come back after 30 days and say, "what floaters?" He expects them not to go away but for the brain to learn to ignore and accommodate them. He was quite glib and made me feel like a bit of an idiot for wanting something to be done. He said that if a vitrectomy is done on my right eye, then it's inevitable that I'll need it at some point on my left eye, too. Why? I asked. Because, he said, the vitreous separation that causes the floaters is bound to happen. To everybody? I asked. Yes, he said.
Then he said something that I've heard other doctors, audiologists, surgeons, etc. say: "I make lots of money doing the surgery so I'm happy to do it, but I don't think you need it right now." I hate when they say that.
The truth is the floaters are bothering me less than 2-3 weeks ago. And he might be right that after 30 days, I won't notice them at all.
Stay tuned.
