Disturbing plans for South Mountain archived

Sorry if I'm not taking your word for it. If you got the records through an OPRA request, I doubt there's any issue whatsoever posting them here. My guess is anything that should have been redacted, was. Soo.... signs, an Essex Co. agreement, red flasing lights... let's see it. Doesn't get you far to ask for help but keep the facts close to the vest, IMHO.

Yeah... so I am still with the Maplewood sign, even though it doesn't have the H

I'm interested in this issue but I don't understand the "faceless opposition" approach being taken.

Ooh, I like the term "faceless opposition." What does it mean?

Not really sure what it means jersey_boy. oh oh

The term just seemed to capture the seemingly mysterious nature of the save the mountain campaign. No names, no direct contact on the web site, just anonymous posts in opposition to a big honking sign on the mountain.

On the other hand, I Googled the term and found a good use of it ... along with other fun terms such as "harsh reality" and "new world order" in a review of the movie The Visitor:

"The Visitor" doesn't preach, but it doesn't ignore the harsh reality of the new world order either, using that anxiety of faceless opposition to help squeeze some tension into an otherwise leisurely motion picture."

Can't help thinking that on Thursday someone will post "April Fool's Day!"

Wah wah wahhhhh

That was great!

AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:cheer::cheer::cheer:

Someone else was behind the web site. I'll never tell though.

I love living here.

I wish the News-Record had picked it up.

Would have been funnier if it was more believable.

You mean we’re not really going to get a giant orange on the hillside? Oh, pooh.

Excellent? Did anyone actually buy into the joke?

Ummm... if you read the first part of the thread, I'd say a few folks swallowed it hook, line, and sinker.

no, no, no

An April Fools Joke needs to come out on April Fools Day. (and I've got the rule book right here.)

You can't start it a week before.

Also - no leadup allowed. You have to come in - bam! - with the punchline immediately.

I call foul.

A fair-to-middling prank, but a poor on the April Fools scale.

also, I hereby accuse hankzona of being a co-conspirator

Posted by: hankzona are they considering a sign like the famous "HOLLYWOOD" sign? Maplewood could use the extra attention...and sharpshooters can sit on the crossbar of the H during the deer culling season!

That was the first hint of the HOLLYWOOD motif in the thread. Concidence? I think not.

(and yeah - slow day at work today)

Wait, what's a PRILF?

Hank was not a co-conspirator.

Though he did kinda blow the joke early, instead of contributing to the amusement of some hoped-for outrage.

Ah, well, lessons learned. Better luck next year grin

heh.

uhm, a Petulant Rastafarian I'd Like to ****?

If it had been more believable, the Town probably would have gone ahead and built it.

Nice.

The faceless opposition wins again. A very powerful force for good.

VERY well played. Bravo!

Great effort expended towards the cause of silliness.
