I'd post pics of eggs and the bread, but for some reason my iPad won't let me. it's almost Monday here in Australia, and that means the day after.... Wishing you a sweet week.
I gotta ask: do you still crack eggs??? My colleagues have been teaching their smallest grandkids, and now shells are all over the house!

I think the eggs are kept in baskets covered with straw
My sister and I were raised as Roman Catholics..........but I made the jump to the Orthodox persuasion
My mom always prepared multi colored eggs and dated one for a birthday or special occasion
I ate them
When I was still married to a man who grew up in Romania, every Easter his family would crack the colored eggs together and greet each other with: "Christos a inviat" (Christ has risen) and the reply "L'adeverat a inviat!" (truly, he has risen!) at least, I think I am spelling that correctly.

The Orthodox Tradition
My husband was raised Russian Orthodox: Khristos voskres! Voistinu voskres!
@Val & ML,
We're Greek (surprised?) SIL is Russian (Ukrainian) so both were heard yesterday. As for red eggs...craked broken and eaten- except by some one who's allergic to red. He had a blue one.
Maiyeritsa for the first time in years. My fave.
I'm appalled at the vandalism: the church fires there and in Australia. Do we know more details yet about the arsonists?
If you are referring to the NYC fire they so far announced that there is nothing suspicious about the
fire. One of hundreds of the lit candles gone astray? or some old, old, wiring. They will rebuild.
Fire destroyed their church............but never their faith
I wondered if it was a mere coincidence that it was an Orthodox Church on Orthodox Easter, but the candle theory makes sense, as does the old wiring theory, sad to say.

I think it's suspected arson here, but marksierra might know more.
Nope. I only see what's in the news.
