They are common around here, but you do not see them nearly as often as they see you!
Was driving on Valley a month or so ago after dark and saw a canid of some sort cross the road and thought, my, that’s a tall fox. About 10 seconds later realized it was not a fox.
I was surprised by how unconcerned it seemed about being in traffic. Have to assume that it was not new to the experience.
Love peace and hair grease to all of the creatures of the world, but wouldn’t mind if coyotes were not a local phenomenon.
I have been seeing a coyote on North Terrace recently too. (Or, as Jackson Fusion describes it above, 'a tall fox.') I often see one coming home, which must be in the woods behind our house, around 8 or 9AM, after a night of hunting I presume.
I saw what I thought was "a really tall fox" strutting across Vauxhall near Millburn Ave. last night.
I knew the population of coyotes must have been on the increase when the Acme store was all out of anvils.

I was out walking our dog tonight, and what I believe was a coyote ran down a neighbor's driveway and into the street, then proceeded to run into the front yards across the street and back towards us. We headed home, and the coyote continued trotting through everyone's front yards. It was grey and about the size of a border collie. Anyone else seen it running around?
