I got one quote for $1200 for an aluminum liner, or $1800 for stainless steel liner. cant remember the competitors' (we are also doing the work via the state incentive program, not sure if that matters)
Cost can vary widely depending on the chimney. I have seen quotes range from $1200 to $8000 ( for different chimneys)

Hi. I don't have access to my paperwork right now so can't tell you what we paid but after getting several quotes we went with Tom Selmani, referred to me by our plumber. He was the least expensive and he did a good job. (201) 401-9169
Cost depends on chimney condition and any other work you may need like installing a cage at the top etc. We had Elite Chimney do our work and it was somewhere near $3000. If they had to open the brickwork, it could have been more.

I didn't know they did liners through the state program?
Yes, we are getting a new boiler, etc., so the liner is necessary to (for the first time!) vent thru the chimney.
