Cool way to recycle plastics.

Fill disclosure: this is a friend of mine, but I also think it's cool.

Friends and Colleagues,

I hope you're having a great day. For the last year I've been pouring my life into a new project called ByFusion, and without being too dramatic it has the potential to change the WORLD.

Every year in the US over 28 million tons of plastic waste is sent to landfills or ends up in our oceans.  The plastic that you put into your big blue recycling bin?  Only 8% of that actually gets recycled – the rest goes straight to the landfill.  I was as shocked as you are.

The good news is that ByFusion has a new technology that can process ALL types of waste plastic to create a new and 100% recycled building material that can be used in a wide variety of construction projects.

Water bottles? Check!
Plastic bags? Check!
Plastic lawn chairs? Check!

If it’s made of plastic and gets thrown away we can process it - and that means zero plastic to landfills or polluting our oceans and coastlines.

We’re very excited to be partnering with a group of innovative non-profits including Sustainable Coastlines Hawaii to bring our technology directly to the source of the oceanic plastic pollution.  Together with SCH our goal is to process 100+ tons of plastic waste from Hawaii’s coastal and near-shore environment as one of our first projects.

Next week we're unveiling our ByFusion machine and our RePlast building material on Indiegogo. I wanted to give you a heads-up and invite you to check out our new website and register for updates so we can spread our message far and wide.

Take a minute on our website to put your information into the “Get Engaged” section and we’ll reach out directly with ideas for working together in your area to put plastic waste to use rebuilding our communities.

Very exciting times!

Thanks so much for your support.

Gregor

Thanks, JB. I'm re-posting to Facebook.

There are two problems with plastic recycling. One is finding an end use and the other is transportation. The Byfusion end use is excellent. The other problem with plastic recycling is the cost of transport. Plastic is high volume, low weight. In other words, the generator would be paying several hundred dollars to transport a couple of hundred pounds of plastic. A garbage truck gets 5 miles per gallon. After baling, the plastic would have to be trucked again to a Byfusion facility.

How is this addressed? How much will Byfusion charge the generator/municipality? How much will the end product cost?

I believe the ByFusion product is the transportable manufacturing unit. Local plastic is made into locally usable bricks by the machine. You don't transport the end-product, you deliver the brick maker to the location where the bricks are to be used.
