Constructive ideas for the Post Office site

Heck, if we call in Post Office Crashers, we could get the thing demo'd and a bunch of brand new stores and apartments in a weekend.

"We The People" own it; therefore the restoration of the post office building site should be a community project, not a municipal one. Just say'n... lets put it to a vote...

We did put it to a vote. We elected the town council.

The last thing we want to do is put it out for referendum. That's how we ended up with the real grass failure of Dehart Park instead of having a turf field that we need to accommodate the playing time needs of all of our young athletes.

Why put it to a vote, because your unhappy with the decision of our elected officials?

A decision that is the culmination of years of an open process.

no idea is viable without an initial capital business plan and long term business plan.

don't even bother with ideas until there is a more than back of the envelope business plan put together.

if there is real financial return to the town, to the owner/ developer - then the issues of aesthetics, scale, etc. can be worked out. If not -- its a pipedream.

All of this "ideating" about the site seems to have as much thought behind it as Spanky and Alfalfa saying "let's put on a show!"

We cannot put it to a vote AFAIK.

"We cannot put it to a vote..."

Sure we can, because it appears there's an ever increasing number of people who are unhappy with the decision, (as was demonstrated at the last township committee meeting). The building has been there fifty plus years, so what's few more months? Come on, I've heard good things happen for people willing to wait... ;-)

This post needs to be a sticky, or placed on some FAQ or something, so we can refer people to it every 4 days when this suggestion come up.

Sounds to me like you're a proponent of governmental interference with small business.

"A public question could be put on the ballot to allow the Township Committee to ascertain the sentiments of the public, but the results would not be binding."

That's what I'm talking about! Then both the TC and the voters will know where they all stand. Does the TC want to fly in the face of a community opposed to their pan for the post office, or do they think they are smarter than the rest of the residents who elected them? Interesting isn't it....

"Sounds to me like you're a proponent of governmental interference with small business."

Government and small business, that sounds like an oxymoron to me...

Pawn/porn/bail bonds/check cashing / we buy gold/ e-cigarette / vapes/ adult book super center.

Proximity to MMS might be an issue.

If this goes to a referendum, my opinion will have been placed on mute, anyway, so fire away.
