Congratulations to the Cubbies!

Hmm, just noticed the bottom line of the line score through 4...

Or MLB could just go back to a 154 game season, toss in a few doubleheaders as a bonus for the fans, and finish the season with the chance of better weather.

And still do earlier starts for kids and old farts like me who have to work the next day.

Like! Can we get a 3-game series for the Wild Card though? Make the last 2 games a DHer, so it only adds 1 day. Think of the strategy on that day if a Game 3 loomed!

I think I'd rather have a regular 3 game series without the possible DH but still have 154 games. It may take us to where the season ends now but I'll take that over the weirdness of a do or die game that is so not baseball unless there is a real tie. And MLB still makes the $. Also, can we please go back to home field in the World Series being determined by best record and not the All Star game? TIA.

Didn't home field just alternate by league, regardless of record?

What *is wrong* with Joe Buck?

The first rule of no-hitters? You do not talk about no-hitters. #Cubs #WorldSeries

I watched it until about 10:30 pm or so, but 5:00 am comes awful early...

My excuse: anniversary dinner and a show. But we overheard the score during one of the intermissions of the play (set in Chicago, natch) and while waiting for the train home -- kind of like the way updates on the Morris-Smoltz Game 7 were passed by word of mouth at our wedding reception. #OneTrueSport #OneTrueLove #NotAlwaysInThatOrder

Nice to know I was not alone! And I agree, it does...

Gotta do something to speed things up.

Congratulations on your anniversary Dave!

Thanks, Jim.

My excuse for missing most of the rest of the Series will be work. I'm on the Corey Kluber plan: Count me in for Games 1, 4 and 7.

Lived in Libertyville, Ill from age 2 mo until 8 years old - formative baseball years. So have been a beleaguered Cubs fan for the past 40-some odd years. Was at Game 1 the other night - despite the outcome, it was fantastic.

Am still pretty floored by how nice people in Cleveland and Indian fans were.

Are there any real, diehard Cubs fans on this board?? Represent, People!

Thought someone might be interested in this offer...

I can't go but a friend of mine has tickets for Game 5 in Chicago this weekend. Box seats plus airfares and hotel accommodation. He won this package at an benefit auction but the game will be on the same day as his wedding - so he can't go. If you're interested and want to go instead of him, it's at St Peter's Church in New York City at 5 pm. Her name is Dottie. She will be the one in the white dress.

So, this deal is to marry Dottie so this guy can go the Chicago, right?

Yes. It's a joke. Get it?

If the guy is a real Cubs fan, this would be serious. Perfectly reasonable to find a surrogate for the wedding.

Jeff,

Tell your friend that at least 25 years of hapiness lie ahead if, instead, he can just make sure someone brings a radio to his reception. (A mobile device should do in a pinch, although that contingency remains untested.)

Dave

I can't make it to the wedding but I can pinch hit for the honeymoon.

At first, I thought this was Dottie. But she was in a different cathedral.

Me too! Sorry to have missed the end. Once the score tied, I had a feeling it was going to be way too late for me, even for such an historic game. Glad to have woken up to see that the Cubbies won.

I'm glad the Indians made a game of it.

I'm glad I didn't have to deal with Sam Holbrook's strike zone.

I'm glad grounds crews all across MLB know what they're doing.

I'm glad that's yet another fan base whose lamentations I no longer have to shed crocodile tears for.

I'm glad for the ghost of this guy:

That was such a great series. I rarely follow spectator sports, but I knew this was a series to watch. Unfortunately, I've been sick in bed for three days, and while watching last night's game, I couldn't stay awake. I knew I would miss a ton of excitement at the end, and I was right. Both teams were amazing, and I'm really impressed with the Cleveland crowd for their respect and relative cheerfulness.

It's not every night that you see a two run wild pitch.

Those may have been the feeblest pair of runs in baseball history: walk, squibbler, wild pitch.

Better than walking to runs home... but yeah, not the best baseball.
