.

I think you can just sync it via iTunes, so that the music is on your computer, then when you sync iPhone, add it to the phone, though I'm no expert on this.

For music that was not purchased using iTunes I'm not sure what I would do short of syncing to iTunes using a PC or Mac.

For music that was purchased using iTunes, #4 allows you to select "All Songs" or "Recent Purchases" for a "Download All" option. Download Past Purchases - from Apple Support

  1. Open the iTunes Store app.
  2. At the bottom of the screen, tap More > Purchased > Music
  3. Tap "Not on This [device]."
  4. Find the song, album, or music video that you want to download, then tap it.
  5. Tap to the right of the title. The song, album, or music video downloads to your device.

I thought I followed the directions and succeeded in purchasing an album I didn't want! gulp

I am unable to find my music purchased a few years. So, if I were to get a new iPod (nothing fancy)could I be able to download from the old one?

I originally just wanted the Music on my iPhone as a replacement for the iPod.

I despise iTunes. (well, I think most Apple software sucks, though I like their hardware).

I would take your laptop and ipod to Genius Bar to make it work.

Make sure you are logging into iTunes with the same Apple ID on the phone as on the ipod. That ID is what saves all of the iTunes downloaded music.

The different Apple device won't do anything differently than the phone as they are all dependent on the ID.

so, stuff is on iMac but not on iPhone. gulp

Connect iPod and iPhone to the same computer. Then download a program called MobileTrans, it can directly copy music form one ios device to another. Here is the tutorial: How to transfer music between iPod and iPhone

If you need to transfer music from iPhone to another iOS device, just try iTunes, it works.

but if you need to transfer contacts, messages, photos, notes and other data from iPhone to another iPhone, iTunes won't do it.

Use iTunes, and you can also use a phone data transfer tool to transfer music from ipod to iphone.
