Cait and abbys refuses to toast bagels!

Rude...

To supersteph9467: I am not surprised that you did not get my point about your petty annoyance. Perhaps when you are one of the unemployed you will understand how trivial your complaint is. Until then, complain away, get up earlier and toast you own bagels.

Posted By: supersteph9467And also, this is MAPLEWOODONLINE, i wouldnt waste my time talking about starving people in Africa and the unemployment rate on this website, it would be pointless. All I'm trying to say is that a place that prepares other kinds of food, including bagels, could get a toaster. I am positive I'm not the only one whos asked for a toasted bagel there before, just probably the only one who wrote about it but judging from the kind of people who post, the people who tell me I am stupid for taking the time to complain about something petty, who themselves are taking the time to complain about me, This will be my first and last post on this website.

We are, of course, all quite disheartened about your impending departure.

But see, here's the thing,

You are describing C&A as "refusing" to toast a bagel for you - as if they were doing it out of spite. They are "refusing" to toast your bagel in the same way that that they would "refuse" to rotate your tires - it is not a service they offer. To think of them as "refusing" your request is really a very odd way of looking at it.

Consequently, when people with a more, um, mature view of life saw your complaint, they viewed it as somewhat childish. It wasn't a reaction to the fact that it was a "petty" complaint. It was a reaction to the fact that the complaint made no sense, because you were blaming C&A's for failing to cater to your wants, as if it was their responsibility or something.

Some people, when faced with your disappointment, might say "I really like C&A's, but it's too bad they don't toast bagels." Instead, you've described it as if they've got a personal vendetta against you, and anyone else wanting a toasted bagel.

(lord, I need to get a life....)

"This will be my first and last post on this website."

I think you mean third and last post.

H&H on the UWS in the city doesn't toast bagels or even put anything on them. You're free to purchase a container of one of the toppings (cream cheeses, butter, jam, etc.) which they carry in large refrigerated units at the front of the store, but that's as far as they'll go. Absolute Bagels (also on the Upper UWS) which I sorely miss and adore never toasted bagels either - they did have toppings, but there just wasn't time for toasting. There would be huge lines out the door in the a.m. I also think they just didn't want to bother. At first, I was annoyed because I was used to getting a (bad) bagel toasted at the deli place where I worked, but Absolute's bagels were (and are) so good, that toasting would've ruined them! Same goes for H&H although I prefer Absolute.

I'd just go elsewhere if you want a toasted bagel, or if the coffee's more important, give up on toasting, unfortunately. I never even noticed that C&A sold bagels. I wonder if they make their own or purchase them from another store...

Quit your crying and go to Dunkin. CAIT AND ABBY'S ROCK!

there are hungry children right here in the usa...

Edited and deleted, in the interest of discretion.

Life must be pretty good if the one thing in the world that draws your ire enough to post on a public message board is the lack of a toasted bagel.

Shock and Awe! I agree completely w/drummerboy!

This entire thread is making me look forward to another season of Curb your Enthusiasm. It is such a Larry David issue.

well put and so true!

Wow. All the flames in here could toast a whole bin full of bagels....

Why is everyone being so hard on the OP? People post complaints on this board all the time....from the poster who complained that C&A gave her a worn $5 bill, to the poster who complained that Eden Gourmet wasn't carrying Hazelnut coffee anymore. And let's not forget the pages of threads devoted to the Gasbag. Maybe she wanted to vent, or was looking for someone with similarly disappointing experiences. Granted, the issue seems a little petty to many of us, but, yeeks.... why make her feel stupid? Am I missing something?

"Am I missing something? "

No..this is a fairly routine thing on MOL. A new person shows up with a complaint, and the 24.7 serial posters bash him/her. It's par for the course.

don't go supersteph-we need you.

oots

Because it is a stupid thing to complain about. And all posters have been doing is pointing that out. It is not a flame. As I say over and over again there is a big difference between disagreeing and flaming and too often the two are equated.

what are we all supposed to say - what a wonderful idea, we agree. We disagreed that C & A has any obligation to toast bagels. It was the OP who got all upset that people dare to disagree with her great and lofty thought.

She came here for assent and did not get it. Too bad.

I'm picturing the cashiers in aprons out there with the jack and the tire iron...

My point exactly....

I am so over that bakery. They are the only gig in town and they know it.. Eden is the place for me.. I really do not like the fact that when the Jewish holidays come they hike up the price of some baked goods and blame the price of matzoh. If I had the cash i would open up a really good bakery....

[snort] good catch!

If someone has a legitimate complaint, there's nothing wrong with mentioning it here.

There are worse ways to register unhappiness with an eatery's policies -

"You have bread, and a toaster of some kind ..."

she didn't make the comment about the starving people in africa. someone else did. she was just responding to it.

whatev.
the way she responded was funny: misplaced modifiers and unclear grammar.

jus' havin' fun!!

Maybe you and my sister can go into it together, she wants to open a bakery, of course she would have to move here from Michigan, but who knows....

i'm going to open a bakery where EVERYTHING is toasted, whether you like it or not. if someone asks if they can get their bagel untoasted, i'm going to tersely reply, "we toast!" and when i say EVERYTHING, i mean everything. don't want your orange juice toasted? then go buy your orange juice elsewhere.

Mommyrock, can I have my yogurt and fruit salad toasted?

I get a kick out of the "refuses" in the title of this thread. Maybe next we'll see
"New York Fried Chicken refuses to take reservations!"
"The SOPL refuses to deliver!"
"Bunny's refuses to offer spa treatments!"
