Bruce! archived

Thanks for info, can't wait for show...

Went tonight ... GREAT SHOW. Went early ... In the lot by 5 PM ... No problem. Jumped out during the encores and was back to Harvard by midnight ... For the record, when it's all said and done, Bruce (AND the E Street Band!) is THE BEST ... I've seen shows ... Lots of shows ... No one close to grabbing 50,000 people by the collar and saying, "Let's go ... Let's remember why this thing (rock 'n' roll) is fun and why it still MATTERS" ...

Peace.

Amazing show indeed. Some real highlights for me, including Drive All Night and Hard to be a Saint in the City. LOVE that one live.

Max's son played drums on Born To Run and he looked like the happiest kid ever. Max gave him a giant hug after it was done; such a proud dad. Bruce got a kick out of it too, playing atop the drum riser at one point.

Now I have to find some tickets for Thursday...

When I lost you honey sometimes I think I lost my guts too
And I wish God would send me a word
send me something I'm afraid to lose
Lying in the heat of the night like prisoners all our lives
I get shivers down my spine and all I wanna do is hold you tight

Yeah, that was good ...

You jumped out during the encores?

Thunder Road, dude.

Detroit Medley.

TWIST AND SHOUT!!!

Another great show, and a great finish (although didn't get home until 1:00 a.m.)

Yes, he's a man possessed on the stage. Incredible for his age. Great show but . . .

confirmed my long personal moratorium on stadium/arena music shows. A lot of the songs had that rumbling, echo distortion thing going on thats unavoidable in a stadium unless your down there and up close with the privileged. The ripoff-the-cattle aspect of all such big events, music, sports or otherwise, doesn't help either - $20 parking, $4.50 water etc., horrible traffic.

Jumped out during American Land ... Can take or leave that one, so I missed Twist & Shout. It was worth the sacrifice of getting out of there speedy quick ... The sound was an issue ... I was on the floor, near the sound board, and it wasn't great ... I thought it could've been louder and the mix was nothing special ...Agreed about these big shows ... $7.75 for a bottle of Bud ... Having said that, if I didn't have plans for Thursday, I'd go back in a New York minute ...

My wife bought the tickets. I hadn't seen him or any other arena size music show in decades. But despite my distate for big hyped events, I have to agree. I'd go back. He's a special thing live, and it may be coming to an end.

>New York City Serenade

>I recall him opening a Philly show with it back on the Reunion tour. I don't think he's played it more than once or twice since.

I thought he opened that show with Incident and played NYC Serenade later in the show. That was an epic.

September 25, 1999 - Opened with "Incident", did "NYC Serendade" in that set.

I'm going Thursday with a group of people and CANNOT WAIT! I'm getting a little worried though, that since he's played so many great songs already in NJ, he won't play any of them when I go! It will be my first show and you guys are getting me even more psyched!

We went last night and had an awesome time, except that the people behind us asked us to sit down about 1/3 way through. What is the proper etiquette/response? We sat for a while, then moved to some empty seats nearby so we could stand/dance.

>New York City Serenade and Incident

That's right, he opened with Incident. I remember the whole crowd being kinda shocked at first then absolutely nuts.

Incredible show! I was at the Philly show when he opened with NYC Serenade, and last night rivaled that one for me.

I also have a concert etiquette question - a woman in front of me was smoking and her smoke was blowing directly back at me. Is it OK to ask someone to go outside to smoke, since they aren't supposed to be smoking in the first place? I did, and got a bunch of nasty glares and comments from her for the remainder of the show.

At an outdoor concert people are going to dance. They get up, they sit down, over and over. Usually a whole section is standing and then everyone sits again. I would say if you are blocking someone else's view you should sit. Glad you were able to find another seat though.

The smoking drives me nuts. If it really gets bothersome I ask security to make them stop.

I'm sure glad we're not sitting together on Thursday

Seriously, I would have told her the same thing but maybe not as diplomatically. At least you got to hear Drive All Night.

Here's Nils' solo on Because The Night. The flip is at about the 2:15 mark.

Jonsel - Thanks. That was incredible on Monday. It was as if they took all the safeties off and let him loose. He was a wild man on that.

In case anyone wants to meet up at the show tonight, we will be parked at the arena. I will be wearing an old Springsteen t-shirt. Look forward to seeing you.

That should be easy to find. ;-)

Wish I was going tonight. I was hoping Ticketmaster would release a batch of tickets this morning, but I haven't seen anything. Oh well, I'll catch him next time. There are some rumors of a continued tour in the spring with a possible visit to the Rock in Newark, but I'm not holding my breath.

Anyone go last night? Backstreets.com said there was a over-turned tractor trailer heading in?

Vandalay was going, but hasn't been heard from since yesterday.

One of my co-workers was there, and actually came in this morning. They delayed the start of the show, to give people more time to get there, since traffic was a nightmare. The show was over three hours, and finished close to 1:00 a.m.

It took the people sitting next to me 4 hours to get there from the Driscoll Bridge! We got there in 1/2 hour, we heard early about the trucks so we took the Parkway to rt 3. The parkway apparently backed up shortly after news of the accident spread. So glad we didn't get stuck. Concert was awesome (as usual) BRUUUUCE!
:whorship:

Nohero, I got there at 4:00 from Rt 3 east, no problems. The rest of our group averaged about 2 hours of traffic. He was a little whiny before Living in the Future . Other than that great show . He went on at 9:30 and finished at 12:45. You could see Patti saying " I wanna go home" before the last two songs. Rolled in around 2:00. Songs that were different from the other two shows were Incident on 57th, Light of Day, Blinded by the Light ,Pretty Flamingo among others...closed with Jersey Girl and Rosie.

The Cramer sons went last night. Cramer son who lives in Minnesota timed his visit to see Bruce, with Cramer son who lives in Westfield. Minnesota Cramer said it was the best Bruce concert yet, and he's seen a lot.

Great concert! Traffic was brutal getting in (2+ hours) and getting out (1+ hour), though.

Glad they started late to wait for all the people who were stuck.
