The No. 29 album on the Billboard 200 chart for Sept. 19, 1970, opens with these words:

I understand that time is running out (tick-tock tick-tock) I understand that time is running out (tick-tock tick-tock) I understand that time is running out (tick-tock tick-tock) I understand that time is running out (tick-tock tick-tock) Running out as hastily as n*****s run from the Man
Jalal Mansur Nuriddin, a leader of the Last Poets, died on June 4. I missed the news until The Times belatedly reported it. (The link is to a Guardian article by one of his later managers.) R.I.P.

mtierney's husband .

just saw this. my sincerest condolences.

I know there are other deaths announced today you might feel are significant.

I’d like to acknowledge here the passing of Dr William McBride, who alerted us to dangers of so-called ‘wonder drug’ thalidomide, and spared even more families from needless heartache and disability.

Wow! No shout outs to Joe Jackson?

Sci Fi Author Harlan Ellison.

the devoted SF collector in this household is deep shock, can’t remember ‘a time without Harlan on the shelves’. gulp

A big one for sci fi fans (gI wasn't sure he was still alive)

Ed Schultz.    A news reporter with integrity.  He lost his job at MSNBC after standing up for workers and labor unions.

I've just read about Steve Ditko, who gave Spiderman and Dr Strange their definitive look, and created the Creeper.

Very sad when there is no family, few friends left to remember you. He was a gifted artist, and brought joy and amazement to generations.

Boy that's a name from my Marvel Comic reading days that I haven't heard or thought about in decades.  Sorry to hear.

Tab Hunter. 86. Closeted heartthrob who finally came out in recent years. So glad he was able to do that before he left.

Nancy Sinatra, Snr, at 101years of age, on Friday.

I’m sure you’ll have better obits and notices than I have access to.

I was just going to note this. Thank you for posting. Surprisingly, not so old but not so well.

Love this quote:

"But I was not anti-military, or anti-establishment. I was anti-stupidity. And you certainly do run into a lot of stupidity in the military."

I’ve just read of the death of one of the few remaining WW2 female pilots, Mary Ellis. She was 101 years of age, and flew an extraordinary variety of planes. (76 types, which included over 400 Spitfires; all up, over 1000 planes)

You take the good, you take the bad.. And then we lose Charlotte Rae (Mrs. GArrett)

What will Blair ,Natalie and Tootie do?

May her memory be for a blessing

I still have my old vinyl recording of the mid-1950s "Threepenny Opera" - Charlotte Rae was Mrs. Peachum and Bea Arthur was Lucy Lockit! Who would have thought they would be starring in TV sitcoms 40 years later! Both now gone, but so many happy memories of their work remain.

Acclaimed author VS Naipaul has died, aged 85yrs.
