Bring Out Your Dead! The celebrity death thread....

I recall the talk about him and rock hudson. Never could figure out if it was true or a show biz rumor

And farewell to the lovely Jim Nabors.

Oops..he has already been recognized. Thank you.

Christine Keeler - her simultaneous affairs with a British MP and a Russian diplomat caused a scandal in Britain, and was said to be a contributing factor in the election loss of the Macmillan government in 1964.

Oh, that's sad.  I always wondered what happened to her.

There was a recent release of UK cabinet and security papers in which she and Profumo were mentioned. At the time the media didn't know how heavily he was watched and how many dalliances he had; reading the more recent accounts, I felt quite sorry for mess made of her life. (There was a documentary on her a few years ago, too; quite well done)

Oh, Maman would have been sad LOL

Thanks for the notice, joanne.  I loved that movie.  Happily, it can be streamed on Netflix, the perfect accompaniment to near-Christmas in Wisconsin for an ex-Angeleno.

Sounds like a good life, a satisfied man, or anyhow I'll imagine him that way.

We have many surfers here around his age, just thinking of giving up the sport cheese Walked past two yesterday afternoon, who seemed to have had the perfect day and were just so relaxed and happy-tired. You know that feeling? ‘If I go tonight, it wasn’t all bad’

I hope for Bruce’s family that their loss is softened by the great admiration and respect with which he’s remembered throughout the world.

Californian-born pioneering agricultural legend, Spike Dessert, rum distiller of the Kimberleys

He came to Australia in 1972, and saw a lot of changes. A very colourful and memorable character.

Bugs Bunny animator, Bob Givens, has died just before Christmas, Aged 99 years.

If you were the other viewer who watched the two "Dick Van Dyke Show" episodes that CBS ran in prime time on Christmas Eve, you'll join me in missing her scene- (and Square-) stealing wit and delivery already:

Rose Marie, Decade-Spanning Showbiz Veteran, Is Dead at 94

. . . to block.

It's a sad one.

Author Sue Grafton (mystery writer) passed away, too. Her family has said that the final volume in the series, which would have been based on the letter "Z" will never be written - she left no outline and did not ever want a ghostwriter.

 LOL

I’ve just read this news - so sad. I love her books, and admire her firm ethics of not selling the film rights for tv or feature film, and never ever employing a ghost writer. I’m glad the family have decided to honour them.

I’ll always wonder what Z would have been.

Awww.  I love her books, and also liked seeing her happy face in the author pictures.  As a native of southern Calif, I enjoyed matching her pseudonymous (word?) locations to the real geography.  RIP, Sue, Kinsey, Henry, and all the folks (well, most of them) in Santa Teresa.

Peter Marshall: "Rose, as you get older, do you gesture more or less?"

Rose Marie: "Peter, if you give me one more 'as you get older' question, I'm going to give you a gesture that you'll never forget!"

I’m deeply saddened to read about Erica Garner. The world has lost a strong leader, but is hopefully a better place because of her courage and determination.

agreed.  Very sad about Erica Garner.  She was only 27 and has young chldren.

It seems as if her family, and community, are close-knit even without the politics of social justice to bind them. I hope this makes it a bit easier for her family, as they raise the children.

Some of Erica’s writing had been published here. I found her thoughtful, passionate and clear. A great loss. May her memory be a blessing.

Edited for spelling.

Hard to think of these men as in their mid to late 80s now.

Jerry Van Dyke, of Coach game, dead at 86. Funny in his own right, but under the shadow of his older brother...

Survived by His Mother, the Car.

One of the pre-Hayward/Lodge originals. The extravagances of his “Legend of a Mind” brought me smiles in my youth. (Among them being: Why not just title the song “Timothy Leary’s Dead” and be done with it?)
