Bridgegate

The NJLJ is reporting today that AT&T will turn over records requested by the subcommittee.

From the article by J Booth...Telecommunications company AT&T has at least partially complied with a subpoena from the committee of the New Jersey Legislature investigating last fall’s closure of local access to the George Washington Bridge demanding records from the state-issued cellphone of one of Gov. Chris Christie’s key aides.
Assemblyman John Wisniewski, the co-chairman of the New Jersey Legislative Select Committee on Investigation, confirmed on Sept. 9 that AT&T had sent the committee a 17-page list of telephone calls emanating from and received by the cellphone issued to Regina Egea, the director of the Authorities Unit in the governor’s office.
The records do not contain any information about text messages, but do indicate the phone numbers and duration of calls made and received, Wisniewski said.
Egea has testified to the committee that she sent Christie a text during a December hearing of the Assembly Transportation Committee, which was looking into the Sept. 9-13 closures, but deleted it. Christie has said he does not recall receiving a text message from Egea about the hearing.
Wisniewski said he does not yet know if any of the numbers belong to cellphones used by Christie.
Wisniewski also said he does not know if AT&T will be sending the committee additional documents relating to the cellphone’s usage.
The committee’s attorney, Reid Schar of Jenner & Block in Chicago, is continuing to discuss the subpoena’s demands with AT&T’s attorneys, Wisniewski said, adding that he is “not prepared to say” whether AT&T has fully complied with the subpoena’s demands.
The subpoena is demanding records of any incoming or outgoing calls from Dec. 1, 2013, to Dec. 31, 2013, along with the time, date and duration of the calls, and the sending and receiving numbers. The subpoena also demands the same information about incoming and outgoing text messages for the same period and the contents of any of those messages.
...
Egea is set to become Christie’s next chief of staff if the person currently holding the job, Kevin O’Dowd, is appointed attorney general. Christie has said he wants to nominate O’Dowd for the position but has not yet done so.
A spokesman for AT&T did not respond to an email requesting comment and Egea’s attorney, Michael Martinez of the New York office of Mayer Brown, did not return a telephone call.
The committee issued the subpoena to AT&T on Aug. 25, and it was unclear how the company would respond.
At the time, an AT&T spokesman issued a statement saying, “AT&T takes its obligation to assist law enforcement very seriously. We’re also committed to protecting our customers’ privacy. When presented with a request from law enforcement for call records or to otherwise assist with a criminal investigation, we require the requesting party to comply with all applicable laws—e.g., present us with a valid search warrant or court order.”
The subpoena is neither a search warrant nor a court order and there was some question as to whether the committee would have to ask a judge to issue a warrant or order.
Wisniewski had said he didn’t anticipate there being an issue with AT&T providing the records since Egea voluntarily agreed to turn them over to the committee.

Just waiting for the indictments. People think it is forgotten and done with. Far from it. Paul Fishman is taking his time to get it right.

What's this I see on HuffPost? NJ's credit rating downgraded again, marking a "record" 8th time since Christie took office. Nice!!!! Also record breaking are his corporate tax breaks to the politically connected. Bridgegate isn't "old news" as he'd like to qualify it, it defines his governorship!

SMH. Lot's of ammunition if this guy *thinks* he can run for higher office.

So Baroni's lawyers are going for the nuclear option.

This is exactly why people are told that business/government, et al. e-mail accounts are to be used ONLY for official business. If you want to have personal conversations by e-mail, use your private e-mail accounts on your expensive smart phones!

No doubt. But if there is precedent to withholding those kinds of emails, there's little reason to oppose it, other than to destroy the lives of colleagues.

Whoa.

Wildstein grabs Baroni's hard drive:
