Best Hot Dog Places in NJ

Manny's Texas Weiners has a decent Texas weiner (have them grill the dogs and get them a bit on the well done side) if you need a fix close by.

MsSumida, agree with you again about Don's--the burgers were outstanding. And remember the pictures of customers on the walls? "Selfies" before selfies were invented, lol. Sadly, the relocated Don's in Morristown failed. There's no current eatery quite like it.

Granted, hot dogs aren't exactly health food, but every now and then, there's really no substitute for a really tasty hot dog!

Dickie Dees on Bloomfield Ave. was always a big hit growing up.

In honor of National Hot Dog day we traveled to Clifton last night and had rippers at Rutt's Hut-they never disappoint!!

This is the type of hot-dog I was used to. I can't seem to find any thing like it in the northeast.

Rutt's, of course. But... have to say, Stony's dog is pretty damn fantastic. That toasted, buttered roll is an awesome touch.

I'll vouch for No. 10. Bit of a drive, though.

Agreed, Stony's dog is excellent. It was a revelation for me, given that most of my hot dog experience has beenOscar Meyer from the backyard grill.

Keep it classy. That is what I grew up eating. 60515. Suburban, but still in the 'area'.

Hot meat on an oblong bun or roll requires no more than two accompaniments:

Hot dog, mustard, onions (optional).

Italian sausage, peppers, onions.

Roast pork, rabe, sharp provolone.

Steak, onions, cheese of your choice.

The rest is profligacy.
