Bernie's 2020 Campaign: August 2016 - At least through April, apparently

Thanks in advance.

I think this statement is untrue. No one in the race right now at this point in time, can beat Trump. Especially not Bernie.

Based on what?  Bernie is the BEST person to beat him because he's a non-establishment real populist with great a great platform of things people really want like Medicare for All and free college and a living wage.  Trump's fake right-wing populism will seem so lame next to him.  He will screem "socialism" but that is so easily debuked.  What else does he have?

After our current non-establishment president, I'd prefer one from the establishment.

Where did you get that graphic?  You can vote for Sanders and a few others who aren't mention on it.
That graphic was all over twitter.  They should change it.  When you go to the site they have a survey about "Democratic values" and policies and they don't  even list Medicare for All or even health care reform.
He's running as a Democrat.  He supports Democratic policies more than some Democrats.  He can beat Trump.  He should have his name on the front of the survey.
He is one of 195 Democratic candidates for President right now, btw.
 He's a front runner.

He’s got good brand recognition. His staff pays well to put him on the eye-level shelf with the packet facing forward in the cereal aisle.

Real question is would a Crazy Bernie win more States than Mondale.

Probably yes, bt not by many.

You often say Bernie's platform is "great" or "terrific" as if that is an objectively true statement. But in fact that is only your opinion. I don't like Bernie's platform as it's way too left for me and I think running on the green new deal, free college, etc. is a prescription for failure in next year's presidential election.

Notarization appears to be defective.  Just sayin'.

Did he sign a false statement last time as well?

Bernie may have one of those brain eating worms you can get from swimming in untreated swimming pools or warm ponds.  He’s got that crazy look.  Like he may go off at the drop of a hat.

It may be my opinion, but that platform is enormously popular, even among Republicans. For example, Green New Deal is polling at 80% (https://www.businessinsider.com/alexandria-ocasio-cortez-green-new-deal-support-among-americans-poll-2019-2) so going with another centrist seems like the real prescription for failure.

Only in upside down world.

If you actually read past the fake news headline, that article actually says the green new steal is polling at 43.7%.

And they probably conducted the polling at halfway houses and strip clubs.

Well, given that we only have 12 years to avert irreversible damage, I think 90 to 100% of people are in favor of saving the planet.  I doubt any Democrat not endorsing it will win the nomination.

As I have said previously those numbers reflect support of a concept. If you think 80% will support it once details are filled in and people realize the sacrifices the GND calls for, I have a bridge to sell you.

The Green New Deal will generate a lot of jobs so I think people will be excited about that.  Also, not dying.

That is just hope, really. Obama’s much-ballyhooed green jobs initiative was largely a bust. I dont know what has changed in a decade that would make green initiatives economic growth engines.

So while I’m skeptical that GND will be a net job creator, I’m pretty sure it will make people’s SUVs much more expensive. And that in itself would sink any candidate who embraces it.

This thread is officially now a fast food restaurant ball pit infested with toddler vomit and defecation.    Seriously I don’t know what some of you are doing here.   Some of you; I understand, live here.   Carry on.

Nine minutes of referring to the Democrats as "they".

Hillary is right.  Go elsewhere.

Anyone who feels the need to comment about this candidate, or any candidate, numerous times per day every day at this early stage should have to register as a lobbyist.  Or maybe get a life?

He's very very popular and has unique qualities not found in most other candidates, so I don't see why many are acting like he has no business running for President.  Usually when someone gets such high marks they think they would be a good candidate.  Who else has 30+ years of saying the same things consistently and a terrific platform including Medicare for All and a Green New Deal, and does not take corporate money so you know he is fighting for voters, not donors? Who else also directly takes the billionaires and corporations on directly? Trump would never be able to beat him. If you are saying "ugh" about this then you need to check where you get your news from and maybe question the motives of those that convinced you of that. He is old and white, but you should base your choice on platform first  (and how truthful based on past) and then funding.  Personality, age, race and looks should be secondary.  Otherwise we might have all voted for Sarah Palin or Herman Cain.

A guy who spends his honeymoon in the Soviet Union can't be all good

maybe Georgia was always on his mi-mi-mi-mi-mi-mi-mi-mind?

Bernie Sanders on the Today Show in 1981.

Bernie's strategy is taking shape.  He's copying Trump, and still running against 2016 Hillary.

In Council Bluffs, he broke from his prepared remarks to warn his supporters that they were up against not only Republicans and Wall Street and corporate interests — but “the establishment Democrats,” too. In Des Moines, he thanked the crowd for nearly delivering an upset victory against Hillary Clinton in the Iowa caucuses four years ago. And in Iowa City, he made a point to note that before those votes had even been cast, “my opponent then had 500 superdelegates.”

The crowd of 1,800 answered on cue with a round of boos.

There's more of the same in that article.

Couple of thoughts:

1.  Yes, I'm going to mention that Clinton wound up with more votes and more delegates, and the "superdelegates" didn't matter.  But it's a good line for Bernie, his equivalent of "Build the Wall".

2.  I'm surprised he didn't try to lead the crowd in a "Lock Her Up" chant.

3.  Most important: Why the heck is he starting out by running against the Democratic Party?  He is following the Trump playbook, stirring up resentment and "us vs. them", but he's doing it in the primary.  That will just hurt the ultimate nominee.  He hasn't changed since he started this campaign in August 2016.

3.  He's not a Democrat.  He's a bum.
