Bag ladies, what's your favorite large tote for travel?

Etsy actually does have a lot, my concern is durability. They actually have tons of "champ" monogrammed bags and other totes with crossbody straps, and many have lots of good reviews, but on a board asking specifically about Longchamp for travel, a poster said she got one from etsy that broke within a week. Who needs that?

I've been using the Etsy bag I linked to daily for a couple of months now with zero visible wear and no breakage. I'm not nice to my bags. My guess is that this particular seller uses a factory to manufacture their bags.

I have a great canvas and leather Mismo tote.

This one! It can convert to a backpack AND be cross body

I have another nylon bag by Co-Lab and I love it (this one).

I've seen other Co-Lab bags at Roxy Shoes in Millburn very recently, including some cross body bags. You should go see what they have.

Looks like a diaper bag tho. :/

It's fine, and practical @pippi, but I wanted something a little more fun.
If I could get that Longchamp with a cross body it would be just about perfect. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a way to attach a cross body strap.
And I looked at the MZ Wallace from the link you sent me there is a nice tote, similar To the longchamp but with more pockets, but the only color I would do is black. If they had a tan strap I'd do it. (It does have a cross body strap.)

If you don't mind a wait you can design your own Pliage at longchamp.com.

ETA: Never mind, it looks like only the leather ones have crossbody straps. Fun but trop cher.

Baggu (sold at west elm actually) makes a nice leather tote in white or cream with metallic bottom - has cross body strap. I have one of their canvas totes and I like it quite a bit.

I did that above. It's on the list.

Ok, another naive question from an Infrequent flyer.
Last summer my daughter flew united and used a soft duffle that was slightly larger (in some directions) than the posted size limit. I have a hard sided Heys rolling bag that might work, but the measurements are more square:
Dimensions: 15L x 15.5H x 9W
As opposed to 22x14x9.

Do they go by the total or will I be unable to use it because the one measurement is too long?

If were going to carry on I'm afraid none of our luggage will work. Argh.

I remember the last time I flew the weight of the carry on was more an Issue but it's been awhile.

It shouldn't be a problem. I fly frequently and I have never had anyone measure my carry-on. If it is too big to fit in the overhead or under your seat, they will gate check it for you.

Ok, thanks. (One less thing to keep me up at night.)

This is a bit of a longshot, but I'm partial to Offhand Designs bags and have used a few different styles as weekender bags (in addition to their usual status as knitting bags). The Marco bag, which is one of their newer styles, and it might suit your needs. They're a bit pricey, but well-made and very durable, and some of the fabrics are gorgeous.

I want all of these bags.

I know! Whoever it was up ahead (maybe it was you @baseballmom?) that there is no perfect bag, which is why we have so many, was right.

Yes, it was I! Either this thread has been a divine revelation that I need more, or I'm falling off the wagon. One of those.

My problem is, I've really been trying to ONLY buy things I love. I've gotten rid of so much stuff I didn't, I'm reluctant to fill my closet with things I got "just because."

But perfection feels so close . . . I can almost taste it.

Most of my bags are Furla. A couple are Coach, and I have one Kate. I have maybe 10 total I lack a quality tote. I have a beautiful Furla black leather soft messenger bag that closes with a flap and lacks structure, but I don't use it because of the lack of structure, and the leather, while soft and gorgeous, seems heavy. Because I carry around too much stuff.

I think this is gorgeous and would do some ziplocks for it.

That's actually small. 11x12.

OMG, I THINK I FOUND SOMETHING! help! I've never ordered from ONE KINGS LANE. I found this brand when I was looking into totes like a longchamp.

Nice! And very reasonable!

I just ordered this bag in the espresso color. I'm looking for a bag that can fit my latop, purse and some extras.

Ohhhh that's pretty.

I may require that bag esiders

I must admit this makes my heart sing a little more. Though it's not quite as practical.

@esiders, I may need that bag too. In orange!

Edited to add: In love with this too:

@deborahg, I saw that one and really like it a lot, the large satchel.

(Meaning, I saw it in all my virtual shopping but can't remember where. If it came in red it would be on my list!)

The tote comes in red.... http://www.amazon.com/Lipault-Inch-Weekend-Tote-Grey/dp/B00EDEQKC6/ref=sr_1_3?s=apparel&ie=UTF8&qid=1425307493&sr=1-3

(with shoulder strap)
