At least yesterday (Saturday) was uneventful....sigh

Yesterday I actually felt a sense of relief that we made it through a day without an event occurring that shocked our sense of stability and normalcy.....but today is a new day

3 Baton Rouge officers feared dead in shooting

On the positive side, there was an article today in the Star Ledger about things the NYPD is doing on Staten Island to improve police-community relations.

Apparently police responded to a call about a man walking on a highway with an assault rifle.

Obama on Dallas:

"There is no possible justification for these kinds of attacks or any
violence against law enforcement," Obama said, speaking from the NATO
summit in Poland that he is attending. "Anyone involved in the senseless
murders will be held fully accountable. Justice will be done."

Obama on Baton Rouge:

“For the second time in two weeks,” the president said, “police officers
who put their lives on the line for ours every day were doing their job
when they were killed in a cowardly and reprehensible assault. These
are attacks on public servants, on the rule of law, and on civilized
society, and they have to stop.”

Trump on Dallas:

"A brutal attack on our police force is an attack on our country, and an
attack on our families. We must stand in solidarity with law
enforcement, which we must remember is the force between civilization
and total chaos," Trump said. "Every American has the right to live in
safety and peace."

Trump on Baton Rouge:

“We grieve for the officers killed in Baton Rouge today. How many law
enforcement and people have to die because of a lack of leadership in
our country? We demand law and order.”

Terrible. Please no deflecting. If their deaths are not something you want to comment on, fine. But don't deflect. Unseemly.
