Hit me up in messages if you have questions. I don't usually take it that often but I prefer that type over the proton pump inhibitors like Prilosec.
Hey there!
On a daily of Omeprazole per my gastro's advice. Have to say it's cut my issues near to nil since going on after an ER visit for cheat issues so severe it required an overnight ER visit.

I'm in the same boat. I'm reluctant to continue it, but my Drs. insist not taking it would be worse for my issues. Later, I may be able to reduce the amounts, but for now.... I need it. And, if I don't take it, I can feel it in less than 24 hrs.
Used to use it, but switched to Nexium (now OTC) which works a lot better for me.
Nexium (or its generic) works within 10 minutes the one or two times a year I need it. Tried Pepcid at first and it was totally useless.
This story in yesterday's Washington Post might suggest that you might not want to rely on these two medications for use on a regular basis: Popular heartburn medication linked to chronic kidney disease http://wapo.st/1mQCRiY
I've tried five different medications over the past six months, and none has really helped. Currently on omeprazole, but I'd like to wean myself off it because I've read negative articles such as the one posted above. I'm about at my wits' end. Been tested and treated by my GP, a GI doc, and most recently an ENT. What I suspect I need to do is find someone who actually specializes in GERD, if there is such a doc.
