Some dirt bikes are street legal- these are. Called dual sport. They have lights, signals, license plate, etc. For these you need reg and insurance.

Are quads/ATVs street legal in NJ? The state wdbsite for dicusses restrictions re: ATVs and dirt bikes by under 16 yo smaller than 90cc. But doesn't discuss use of larger(>90cc) quads by adults.
Under what circumstances can these be legally used? by an adult?
License, registration, insurance etc. requirements?
Thanks
Of course not! Where do you think you are? Greece?
Wish they were!

OK... can anyone give me the rationale. please?
because they are "different" and nobody has ever seen them on streets in this country before. Soon enough I'll be on Naxos driving one on the streets there, like everyone else.
Because they are pretty dangerous. They are not built for paved roads and don't have many safety features required for road vehicles.

Often I see employees of one landscaper riding down my Maplewood street on their lawnmowers. And, yes, this landscaper still uses gas powered blowers. Guess if you break a state law who cares about a local ordinance.
