All time FAVORITE MOL post?

Didn’t he move to Washington State?

All the talk on a related thread of an MOL Hall of Fame reminds me of the amazing takeoff on Dante's Inferno a la MOL that was posted years ago.  Jamie:  Is that post still available for viewing?

I'm so glad you found it! I spent probably 45 minutes looking for it a couple days ago, with no luck.

And lars needs to be credited for creating the Dante's Inferno poster. She's in the top 3 of my MOL hall of fame.

I was wondering who did that.

Yeah, that's a piece of work. Wonder if I was a member back then - I don't remember that.

lars reminds me of the Great Chicken Wars of a few years ago.

It's signed by Ricardus2. (Not sure if they went by any other name besides just "Ricardus")

(Wasn't LARS someone else? Maybe the high heel shoe that is in "The Banned" section? Or was she the Goddess?)

Yeah, I think she was the shoe at some point. Maybe others too.

My favorite running joke on MOL is MFABSO (Maplewood for a better South Orange) and SOFABM (South Orange for a Better Maplewood).

 Still a going concern, btw.

Thought it was PhilC behind that.  Reeks of his “Strangeness”.

Lest anyone forget... PABLO!  (And the PeaPod guy and the related goings-on at Rock Spring).

I’ll also add Jerry Ryan’s fabulous April Fools joke involving a few MOLers and a plan to have the Township rent out the airspace over the Reservation for a billboard, a few months in the making and a stroke of pure genius.

We're going to get a plaque with your name on it to put on one of the benches across the street from Starbucks.

Any post that Justmelaura was in the middle of. The best of all time.

it was pretty amazing how wound up some people got over something so obviously absurd.  Jerry's prank was a brilliant satire of how many people's outrage is held only by a hair trigger.

I’ll try and dig it up.  Started well before April of that year (whatever it was).  The real hilarity was in the messages, but alas those I’m not giving up.  cheese

I recall an ambien influenced post that was hysterical, but don't remember the poster.

I second that emotion.  Would also add all the IRL/F2F get together threads that I always seemed to keep missing.  I think one of the most special parts of MOL is that most of the people that posted and lived nearby actually knew each other and hung out.  There is a special community here that I miss so much.

MOL is not just a thing, it's a gum and a candy too - it's Razzles.

Thank you all

cheese

I just looked through my private messages with Jerry on this topic.  He envisioned the word MAPLEWOOD being put up on South Mountain like the HOLLYWOOD name looms over Los Angeles.    I miss the dude.

We all miss the dude. And JustMeLaura came up in a conversation this morning, and then I drove down my street, passing JustTheAunt’s house. They’re all gone, but somehow they remain actively present in all of our lives.

On Monday, I found out that my oldest friend, who I first met in kindergarten, was best friends with right through high school, was my accompanist in college, and shared an apt. with in my 20’s, died after a short battle with COVID. Sigh...

That’s the deal, keeping all of these folks alive in our hearts and minds.
Somehow, I find that very easy to do.

Edited to add:   On a lighter note, Campbell29’s Ambien posts were definitely among my favorites.  smile

I'm sorry to hear about your friend.

Edited to add:  I take Ambien for sleep and I think Campbell29 may have been taking taking too much.  downer

downer

When it was first prescribed I think it was 5mg, now I have the continual release.  However, I still do stuff I don’t remember, so I’m definitely awake, but feel I get great sleep.  Now, I put the devices away when I take it.  I used to do lots of shopping and when I bought a Louis Vuitton bag that showed up as a surprise, I would put the phone and iPad in a bathroom drawer when I took it.  Now, when I take it (which is seldom cause I can sleep when I want) the only fun stuff I do is eat an entire container of guacamole with a spoon.

I am glad I was able to entertain and get good sleep at the same time.

That’s when I realized there were more loopy people on MOL..

One person even asked if Campbell wrote for the news record! smile

Dave, thank you. And many thanks for posting this link. I cracked up reading thru it just like the first time!  And Campbell29, you had such grace and good humor about it.

Now I’ll have to try to get to sleep. Fortunately, trazodone does the trick for me.
