Twelfth Night: A Concert Reading

The Montclair Shakespeare Series Presents a Free Concert Staged Reading of Shakespeare\'s Twelfth Night Beginning with Twelfth Night, at 8 PM on Wednesday, May 20, 2015, at the Montclair Women’s Club (82 Union Street), the newly founded Montclair Shakespeare Series will perform concert readings of Shakespeare\'s work, open to the public and free of charge. The Series will feature a different play each month, accompanied by live acoustic music and performed at various historic venues across Montclair. This is to be an ongoing celebration of Shakespeare\'s work for the cultural community of Montclair, which has always had an appreciation for the arts but currently has little professional theatre available. In this \"no-frills\" concert reading style, plays are read by the actors with the script in hand with very limited staging. The emphasis is on the classical language and on the actors\' ability to bring the characters to life without costumes, sets, or movement. Performances will feature a stellar group of professional actors from both NYC and the Montclair area. Twelfth Night is a one-night-only event.
