Horizon Foundation Sounds of the City José Albert

Horizon Foundation Sounds of the City, NJPAC’s outdoor concert series, features one of the most successful and respected vocalists on the salsa music scene, Latin Grammy nominee José Alberto “El Canario.” Admission is free. With a recording history spanning 40 years and 16 solo albums, José Alberto delivers salsa dura at its best: powerful, swinging and rhythmically diverse. His exquisite voice and ability to use highly melodious whistling skills as a soloing instrument continue to amaze on hits like “Sueño Contigo” and “Bailamos Otra Vez.” José Alberto toured frequently with Celia Cruz, the Queen of Salsa, and worked with some of the most influential artists, composers and arrangers in tropical music. He participated in numerous all-star recordings, including Tito Puente’s Mambo King 100th LP and Combinacion Perfecta.
