Art & Music Reception Maplewood Library’s June exhibit is Cautionary Tales: The Blurry Line Between Collecting and Hoarding by South Orange artist Florence Weisz. \"These assemblages are my ongoing exploration of the stuff in my life - part inventory, part memoir, part confessional.” The idea for this series of assemblages began when her cousin was threatened with eviction apartment because she had created a safety and health hazard with 52 years of accumulated stuff, which covered every surface and practically every inch of her floor. Helping her clean up got her thinking about her own hoarding tendencies, and the justification for saving things. And so began the first of her Cautionary Tales that combine actual \"precious\" objects with digital imagery and explanatory text. Since then, she’s been documentingher own collections and those of family and friends and created ‘Cautionary and other Tales: The Blurry Line Between Collecting and Hoarding.’ A reception with live music will be held on Saturday, June 14 from 1-2 pm. Florence will give a talk and tour of her artwork at 1:20. Music will be provided by classical guitarist David Segarnick.
