Yes!

it took long enough, but the worst Hall of Fame on the planet finally chose the producers of some of the finest music ever to be members.

guess they had to wait until one of the musical geniuses involved had died (Chris Squire)

Let's hope they can surpass the Alex Lifeson thank you speech.

What about the voice of Geddy Lee? How did it get so high? I wonder if he speaks like an ordinary guy.

Congratulations to the band and their fans. But not my cup of tea. In 1980, I fell asleep at a Yes concert (and no, I was neither drunk nor stoned). I kind of like this song though, just because it has one of the worst guitar solos of all time.

you didn't mention that a fellow inductee is Journey. It was a very long wait for them too. But they never stopped believin'

I know him and he does.

Does Geddy say eh a lot, eh?

Will Yes be sharing the award with The Buggles?

Fitting that Geoff Downes appeared on the very first video shown on MTV...

The Buggles far more deserve to be in than Yes, Rush or Journey.

I had a thing* for ELO, owning all their albums, and even I'm laughing.

*It was a terrible thing to lose.

Aww, c'mon, Dave. Don't bring me down.

Might I say that I just don't "get" Yes?

Don't forget Jon Anderson's part, which was obviously written by a turtle crossing a typewriter five times in different directions.

Fun song, though.

To be fair to Yes, most of the fans of earlier incarnations do not like that song and album.

Close to the Edge

Classic album . These guys were genius.

Lots of people don't. You certainly aren't alone. I found them at just the right time in my life and they made an impression on me that lasts to this day. It was their Close to the Edge album. The song lengths were no surprise to me coming from a jazz & classical background. Somehow I just let the mysterious [or uhhh, nonsensical] lyrics in and wondered instead of ridiculed.

oh oh

That you, Bruce?*

*I know it's actually supposed to be "grooss."**

**Twelve dozen? That's grooss, too.***

***This is what passes for humor to an ELO fan.

Not really HOF material. But they did have a lot of great songs.

Then there was this one, that I only knew as the theme from CBS Sports Spectacular

genius squared

I agree - Yes fans are not that crazy about Owner of a Lonely Heart - but I don't think any Yes fans would disagree over Starship Trooper:

Awwwww, come on people!

No Roger Dean required:

And minimal wincing required:

Fave album Going For The One, fave song Turn Of The Century.

serious question -- does anyone know any women who like prog?

Other than mumstheword? Annie Haslam comes to mind. Not that I know either of them personally.
