Yeah to Deloitte bucking political correctness and the new segregation

https://www.bloomberg.com/news...

With diversity progress stalling in parts of corporate America, Deloitte is beginning to shift away from traditional approaches built around gender, race, or sexual orientation and instead working to get a broader buy-in, particularly from white males. After 24 years, WIN, the women’s initiative at Deloitte, will end. Over the next 18 months the company will also phase out Globe, which supports gay employees, and groups focused solely on veterans or minority employees. In their place will be so-called inclusion councils that bring together a variety of viewpoints to work on diversity issues.

I can barely contain my excitement.

thank goodness.  It's about time a big corporation tried to get buy-in from white males.

Finally we may get some more outreach for left handed accountants in the Big Eight.

I simply can't get worked up into an argument about accounting firms.  The mind won't engage.

But don't you think white men in accounting have suffered enough?

I think accounting is an equal opportunity hell.

I don't know what's more absurd- the thread title or the article.

“By having everyone in the room, you get more allies, advocates, and sponsors,” Purushothaman says. “A lot of our leaders are still older white men, and they need to be part of the conversation and advocate for women. But they’re not going to do that as much if they don’t hear the stories and understand what that means.”

Yes, because older white men will voluntarily advocate for women and "minorities" if they are simply made aware of the racist and sexist society they designed and have been benefiting from for hundreds of years.

The thread title doesn't accurately describe what the accounting firm is doing.

That being said, I don't think the article author entirely understands, either.

It sounds like a different approach to the same goals.

Deloitte is continuing their diversity efforts, but in a different format.

Exactly. A different format that does not create closed, segregated groups.

why do they need diversity initiatives?  Are you suggesting racism might be real?

Getting groups out of their boxes and mixing together is always good. Encouraging them to stay in their boxes is bad.

so you're not admitting that racism exists?

But doesn't this make sense?  "many people in her generation don’t want to be defined by a demographic trait and prefer to organize around interests and shared values."

many young people think that until they realize that other people do define them by demographic traits, regardless of what they want.

yeah, it's not like racism, bigotry, ethnocentrism, jingoism  and prejudice  have all of a sudden become passe.

As much as we try.

Lets suppose hypothetically that there is racist, sexism and other types of bigotry. The way to combat that is certainly not to have everyone form groups composed only of their own silo.

Yes. Let's suppose. Hypothetically.

Hey, what's my prize if replace "racist, sexist and other types of bigotry" with "Anti-Semitism" and "silo" with "nation of Israel".

I don't think Jews (like everyone else) should stick only in their own group and to the extent some do it is a HUGE problem. But it is left wing groups that are one by one telling Jews they are no longer welcome.

You have a fundamental misunderstanding of the purpose of these affinity groups

To add, sarcastically, "Imagine my surprise."

The new segregation pushed by the left is find your silo and then stay within it to ***** about how bad you have it.

The new segregation

Nonsense.  There's nothing new about it.

This is from the article you linked to:

Xerox Corp. is often credited with creating in the late 1960s the first employee resource group (ERG), based on race, after riots shook major U.S. cities. Since then, groups focused on gender, sexual orientation, disability, and veteran status have emerged.

The Presidential Candidate of the Green Party, which is presumably "left wing" has a Jewish surname. The "left" candidate in the Democratic Primaries was a person of Jewish background.

I am tempted to Google "Which left-wing groups exclude Jews from membership"?

Please do not address this person as if there is a valid point to the post.  This person's posts are full of sh*t.

Well, there are Google results from certain right-wing publications and web sites.

https://www.realclearpolitics....

Groups on the far left are strongly opposed to the policies of the Government of Israel and some extremists are opposed to the very existence of Israel. So Jews who support Israel certainly will not feel welcomed.

The problem is in equating Jews with Israel. While certain elements of the far Left may morph from opposition to Israel to opposition to all Jews, anti-semitism, elements of the far Right think that their support for Israel immunizes them from being anti-semitic.
