Yard Waste Pick Up

Seems as though Waste Management is no longer offering Yard Waste pick up in our area and I'm quickly filling up bags with tree trimmings and massive weedings. No news on the town site as to when fall rake out begins - does anyone have suggestions of other services I can call to pick up the waste?

Bring it to the recycling center on Boyden and Newark.

I believe they still do the yard waste pickups, but you may have had to sign up at the beginning of the season (?)

You can still sign up via waste management for Wednesday pick ups. They only go through the first week in October though.

Didn't Maplewood have dates for fall yard waste pickup in prior years? Or is that only in the spring? I can't find it on the town website.

Thanks - I've got the leaf info. I'm wondering about larger yard waste (twigs, branches, etc.). I thought there were Maplewood pickups for that in fall and spring. Maybe its only spring?

Only is the spring. Fall is just for leaves.

Except that the website says no branches... Does that mean prunings, twigs, etc? Or are they talking TREE branches?

Leaf pick-up is intended for just those leaves which fall from trees at this time of year and is designed with that in mind. Leaf pick-up is done by having piles of leaves raked/blown into the street where they are pushed into even larger piles by a machine and then lifted and transported to a location where they are composted into mulch. Spring rake-out is done by emptying containers holding all sorts of garden debris. If what you intend to place in the street would pose an additional threat to storm sewers, motor vehicles, and/or pedestrians; hamper the leaf clearing process in any way; or include plant materials that do not break down easily into mulch; then it is best to wait until spring to put out your branches, prunings, etc. WM and WI both offer garden pick-up service weekly in season for those who have grass clippings and prunings they want to get rid of during the growing season.
