The Baird Center has two platfrorm tennis courts and they actually have an assortment of paddles for this fun winter sport. I think they were trying to put together a program for lessons on the weekend but I don't think they found a teacher. However, with the paddles, your daughter could go out with friends. They would need platform tennis balls which you can order on www.paddlepro.com or possibly you could pick some up at Sports Authority.
http://www.platformtennis.org/ This link is to the American Platform Tennis Association. Lots of info here, plus at the top of the Home page there is a link for Rules.
There are currently 2 WOmen's teams that are based out of South ORange, and there are 3 Men's teams who play in Maplewood and South Orange.
Also, possibly CenterCourt offers winter paddle (platform's nickname) lessons.

My 13 year old daughter is interested in winter tennis, and she's done the local programs through the rec dept but still on the beginner/ intermediate level. I can't find anything through the Baird or local rec depts for teens in the winter. Does anyone know of a program that offers lessons for tennis or platform tennis that doesn't mean a long drive or exorbitant fees?
