Our "great, generous, inclusive nation" sadly has a long history of deciding that certain groups of people should be outside of the circle of care and concern. Especially true when demagogues appeal to the emotions of those who feel like someone else is getting what should be theirs...

Yes. But let's contextualize things. Hitler murdered 6 million Jews and many more with his war effots. Trump is holding forth a political platform that says existing laws should be maintained and enforced. Some perspective is needed.
He's saying the courts interpretation of the 14th amendment is flawed. Which, while completely incorrect, is more than a few degrees removed from "let's kill all the jews."

Maybe, but sending some families back to countries of origin might end up being a matter of life or death for them. And I bet you knew that!

Maybe thats why the OP used iniials instead of spelling out the name?
It is.
Hey, don't shoot the messenger. When you compare someone with Hitler (or Stalin) it comes off as being a little silly. Trump is a clown, not a mass murderer.

Didn't they say that about AH when he started out?
Yeah, and Hitler said there's no excuse for hitting a woman - so maybe he's BETTER than Trump.
Dum DUM DUMMBBBBBB
I am not saying Trump is Hitler. I am saying Trump is a xenophobic psychopath, and so are his followers.
He used immigrant labor to build his empire. Whether he hired them directly or not, he profited from their vulnerabilities, and used their status to make money. It's insanely criminal for him to turn around and order them "out." "Rous!"
Think of how his empire will fall if he doesn't have immigrant labor!! Is he thinking about it? Are you? Just go look at the Morristown train station and all the immigrants, approved and unapproved, standing there waiting to go mow the lawns of the rich of Mendham and Morristown. It's like a slave auction. Despicable.
And @dave, if you read my post, I said his behavior is "reminiscent" of. That doesn't read "equal to."
"They have to get out" referring to children and their families sounds pretty draconian. How is that good politics. or pro-life for that matter?

Slaves don't get paid.
The best reaction to Trump is not to react. He has been trained by Roger Stone, who has made Trump into an attention magnet. (never apologize, deflect hard questions with fear mongering.)
To make this simple: ignore him. Predictably no one will get this, particularly the media, so Trump will grow like a tumor on the Republican party. Serves them right, frankly.
Dave, I hope you're right, but that, too, is reminiscent of reactions to...AH, during the period between WWI and II. Not that this will end in a blood bath, but all this bombast, if we follow it to its end, will be highly disastrous for lots of good people. It's rash, and irrational. Mass, forced deportation. It seems dangerous to ignore it.
Personal note and disclaimer: As an ESL teacher who resides in America, of American citizenship, daughter of American citizens including World War II Captain (father) and Red Cross Nurse (mother) I am saying that I find this man dangerous, unAmerican, and fascistic, if not totally bizarre in his rants. I think that Republicans are in a terrible position to have this caricature of their positions emerge.
But @dave, as you say, it's their worst nightmare, and it serves (Republicans) right.
Hold the presses. This is interesting.

Doesn't excuse him. Trump will make outrageous statements and then backtrack with some "humanitarian" position which obviously is positioned to try to excuse his behavior i. e he "cherishes women" or "some Mexicans are great people" etc. etc. These magnanimous words and gestures are great for his stage presence and entertainment value, or advertising, but really do not mask or erase the ridiculous, arrogant statements he makes before he launches his attempts to hide them.
It's the "GOP" way, actually. Always saying something completely offensive to get it out there to the people who want to hear it, but then backpedalling and by saying "oh, so sorry, I misspoke" "oh, please, it's okay because I give $10Mill to charity" etc
Exactly. Do they really think it will erase from our memories the outrageous things? I am hearing that Trump embarrasses Republicans. Wondering why GWB and his yellow cake, mushroom clouds, "Mission Accomplished" and "Heck of a job, Brownie" were not just as outrageous and embarrassing.
Is being a Republican an excuse for saying just about anything and doing just about anything and who cares who gets hurt?
And masking it and changing the subject with attacks on the Clintons is cowardly and irresponsible.
Any thoughts on the conspiracy theory angle? I usually ignore those, but this one is intriguing. They are saying that he is being purposely inflammatory to help get more votes for the eventual democratic candidate? He has stated that if he is not picked as the republican nominee then he will run as a third party. If he actually does this he would be pulling votes from the republican nominee lessening their chance of winning and his behavior would also encourage more democrats to go to the pollls to vote for their guy to make sure Trump doesn't get in.
Trump wants to deport 11 million people including children born here, people who have lived here for years , may own businesses, homes.
And if any of them resist, then what?
Springsteen is not so wrong
How in the world can a billionaire steal the hearts and minds of our otherwise great, generous, inclusive nation with his "haul up the drawbridge" mentality not just about immigration, but also about just about every aspect of American life? Is he after the poor, the itinerant, the different? In his Thrust, he is reminiscent of other xenophobic psychopaths, including the biggest monster of the 20 th century who's initials were AH.
