Who is the Village Keepers Inc.?

Who is bankrolling those signs? And who are they arguing with? Is there someone out there who doesn't want to keep the village a village?

Is this another post office thread?

Are they like the Promise Keepers?

:/

the thing of it is, we know who the TC is, we know who JMF is, we know who is on the planning board and the village alliance. but I don't know who "Village Keepers" is.

the signs say something to the effect of "let's do it right on the PO site!"

again, who are they arguing with? is there someone out there who doesn't want to do it right on the PO site?

Is this the same group with the signs that I saw that said "keep Maplewood a Village" or words to that effect?

The first time I saw the name was when Fred Profeta posted a lawn sign on his Facebook account with Village Keepers, Inc. as the paid-for line.

Village Keepers, Inc. is already incorporated as a business entity elsewhere, so it may not be a real group or the name may be a placeholder at this point.

Oh no another lawn sign

Are they like The Village People?

Yes.............to join you must be a construction worker, native American, or a biker. Who is a separate goup........which prefers to be called The Who.

The Village Keepers is a NJ non-profit corporation. Dave is wrong.

The Chair is Dirk Olin, 34 Park Road.

They are like the River Keepers. They are arguing with the TC. They are bankrolled by right-thinking people from across this great land of ours. They have tons of money and they are not in it to lose. They have just begun to fight.

I thought incs' names had to be unique. Learned something new today.

Are they funded by the Koch Brothers?

Right-thinking people? Really?

Another example of why MOL is lacking in credibility in many cases, people say things without knowing facts and the lies spread.

You could also look at it like someone asked a question and it got answered within 2 hours.

I think you owe fredprofeta an apology. I think he's very credible.

so they are all for replacing the ugly post office? I hope so. Because I know a lot of "wrong thinkers" trying to keep it.

It's a message board.

Looking forward to the coming-soon-to-a-post-office-near-you battle between the Village Keepers and the Village Reapers.

"They have tons of money and they are not in it to lose. They have just begun to fight."

I've been there and done that; and it all sounds fair and square to me. This fight is clearly not political, so what's wrong with a few signs here and there, fighting for what you want, just add a little civil disobedience, and we'll have a perfect storm. Let's go for it Fred...

"This fight is clearly not political ..."

Now who's being naive, Kaye?

Honest mistakes, based on not knowing or misunderstanding the facts, happen. Like this:

TOWNSHIP CLAIMS POST OFFICE PROJECT BRINGS IN $678,000 EVEN WITH TAX BREAKS

It contends the redevelopment project, even with tax exemptions starting at 80% the first year, would still bring in $678,730 over 10 years.

(The projected revenue from redevelopment is $1,009,582. The $678,730 projection is for the existing land and building.)

Yes, credibility suffers. It can be repaired. For this reader, keeping stones pocketed is a start.

Hey Mod - the "right-thinking people" bit? That was a joke. Lighten up. It's legal to have fun on MOL too.

LOST, I don't know how you figured out the Koch Brothers connection, but you are truly perceptive!

I'm lighter than a feather but didn't get the joke vibe. Maybe there is a use for emoticons?

What he said.

I didn't get the joke vibe either, but then again I've also received insults via private communication, disagreeing with what I've written on this subject, from someone who agrees with Mr. Profeta's position.

I fondly remember when no one put up lawn signs in Maplewood.
