WHO IS HE archived

I have noticed this guy in the village for the last month or so, he wears a long green coat usually and has a beard looks really scary. Definitely looks like hes homeless. Usually hangs out on the wall, on south orange ave beside where the village deli used to be. Any info or has any one had and problems with him. I don't think hes exactly great promotion for the village. MAY BE I AM JUST CRAZY.

Today, at about six pm, he was next to Bunnys, wearing a knit cap, in the soaring heat.

He's obviously sick. But I've heard he's harmless (although I can't remember who told me that).

Is there no support systems that can help him out. He scares the life out of my wife she wont walk on the same side of the street as him with kid's. I don't think it acceptable that he loiters around the village area all day.

If he is who I think he is he is a Vet. He is harmless, and he has just as much right to be hanging out any where in town as the rest of us. Not sure where you mean when you say he hangs out where the Village Deli use to be. Unless you mean the old Town Hall Deli. If he isn't bothering anybody I doubt there is anything the police can do.

Reminds me of an older woman who use to walk aimlessly around the Village and over near the CVS on Valley Road in West Orange. She had a scrappy looking little white dog with her. She, too, looked homeless. The police were called about her many times. Guess what? Not only wasn't she homeless, she was very wealthy. Had a manson in Llewellyn Park. All the police could do was shrug as they'd bring her home; knowing she'd be back on the streets the next day.

There's a young homeless guy who has apparently been hanging around the village recently. I saw him just this evening, ambling around on Sloan Street around 8pm. The only other time I've seen him was a few weeks ago, when he visited the food pantry at Our Lady of Sorrows. I got a chance to talk with him then for a few minutes. He said he had no place to cook food, but didn't mention to me that he was a vet. At the time he said he was trying to get together bus fare to get home, but it doesn't appear he's in much of a hurry to leave. Though he seems gentle enough, he is a big guy and I can understand why he'd make people uncomfortable.

tomp
Maybe he isn't the same man I thought he was? Maybe the next time he shows up at the food pantry someone could ask him where 'home' is. Maybe he has amnesia or some other kind of medical condition that prevents him from thinking logically? Every so often there are stories in the news and those little blurbs in the Star Ledger asking if anyone has 'seen this person.' Could he be one of those 'blurbs?'

I've seen two different guys around the village lately that look unkempt and appear to be hanging around without anywhere to go. I have no idea if they are indeed homeless or just look as though they might be. One was tall and thin wearing a knit cap and a few shirts, one of them longsleeved yesterday around dinner time near the dunkin donuts. The other I see from time to time walking around and is also tall but heavier and usually wearing a shirt that doesn't appear to be large enough. I've seen him in Millburn, too, and have heard him talking to himself. Maybe we're talking about two different people here?

Oh yeah bumoklat it is definitely "Hey Boss"

This man seems to be hanging out in South Orange sporadically. He showed up again recently sporting a hospital gown. He somehow must have procured some clothes although they were very shabby. Actually he approached us to ask for a cig and a light. When he turned and walked away his ENTIRE behind was exposed.

JTA: I doubt he is a Vet. He is too young for vietnam and to old for any recent wars. He does seem to be harmless but he either has mental illness or has drug induced problems. Yes he seems harmless but he is a huge guy and I totally understand that he is scary to some people.

His name is "Hey Boss" because he will ask the bartenders at Bunnies: Hey Boss, were are the hot chicks.

I've seen him. Def. not a vet. I was gonna yell at him because he was throwing paper - a candy wrapper - by the bus stop. But he was high and ya'll know I don't mess with no high, big guy!

There are a handful of guys who get off the train at different stops and hang out in the downtown areas of South Orange, Maplewood and Summit, to name the places I've seen one who's face I know. (He's a compulsive cigarette and light requester.)

I'm not sure what compells him to change the scenery and hop on the train -- maybe the local police? Off to Summit to visit Overlook Hospital E.R. for an evaluation of "chest pain" and a sandwich?

I have never seen him leave, he is always there. He was there this morning when I walked passed him. I drive past that little wall several times a day, he is always there...

Maybe a different guy. You could tell him about the sandwiches in the E.R., and buy him a ticket to Summit.

Are you sure this isn't Monster and McCheese ?

If it was Monster or the Mc, I would sit down and have an ice cold beer with them...

His name is Boss Man (I don't know his real name). I think he's homeless, or living on occasion somewhere in Irvington? His backside is air conditioned if you haven't noticed, and in bar terms - he's flagged. He walks around the village center looking for cigarettes. He's never aggressive just loud with a deep resonating voice. He looks worst off now than in the past couple of years he's been hanging around town. Many merchants know him as a recluse.

I stand corrected...his name is Boss Man not Hey Boss.

Pizzazz and I got a (unwanted and unwelcomed) good look at his heini. I may never sleep again..

I know him as "Hey Boss!" His voice is the scariest thing you'll ever hear.

Ah Matt so I might be right? Anyway I used to think your icon was a tad gross but after "Hey Bosses" heini it's all good.

Well, I guess there are at least two different homeless guys we're talking about here. Heini-guy is definitely not the one I talked to. In fact, I'd call the police if I saw a guy walking around in a backless hospital gown...

Unfortunately, there are homeless people and some of them live in our towns. A couple of months ago, around 9 p.m.,I saw a guy open the hatch back of an s.u.v., climb in and close the hatch. There have also been homeless people living in the weeds behind Seton Hall from time to time. One of them, John, deteriorated over a period of 10 to 12 years. Becoming thinner as the time wore on. Then he lost an eye. I haven't seen him in a few years. I believe he is probably dead.

I wish the town of South Orange would have some place for the homeless go to get a hot meal and place to shower and sleep. Some of these people are not homeless by choice. That fact is with high cost of liveing and it's hard for some to a job. They may also be disabled or mentally ill. We do not know these peoples cercomestanes that mad them homeless. The town should help these people.
