Who can draw/plan out our kitchen then go away?

We're have no skills in how to plan out our new kitchen but have the dimensions only. Is there someone who we could hire to come in, measure, plan out doors, windows, sink and appliance location, and then go away and not be involved going forward? Architects will draw but then want to oversee the project for 10%--probably money well-spent, but hoping to find this alternative. Thanks

Have you tried some of the online tools? Ikea has one that is pretty good. You can create the room dimensions and then place doors, windows etc as well as cabinets, appliances. It it really easy to use.
Check it out. http://kitchenplanner.ikea.com/US/UI/Pages/VPUI.htm

You can hire architects or designers to do just what you suggested and pay an hourly rate. That's what we did.

i used steve majeski (recommended allot on MOL) several years ago in my summit house, he only did plans and helped my design out-- meaning we designed a second story bathroom addition that would be "dry" plumbed while doing the kitchen directly below a year later (after financially recovering from my kitchen) we did the bathroom cost effectively as the plumbing was already in place

This. Clawson's will also do this & they did a lovely job for us.

My husband and I basically outlined our new kitchen but when we were buying the cabinets the cabinet people helped out with making sure things were put in the right places and made some great suggestions.

We did a bathroom (complete gutting) starting with Home Depot.

They sent someone out to measure, and then we sat with a representative to plan out how we wanted to redesign it. They gave us the resulting plan. We didn't shop there, we then found a contractor and asked him to "build that". It worked out for us.

We hired Paul Golden, an architect, to plan our kitchen renovation, and he did not supervise the construction. Not sure if he's still available. He's in South Orange. If not, you could try Jeffrey Langsam, also in South Orange.

I sent you a PM @Bak.

fudge's mom--who were your cabinet people?
