Where to sell vintage costume jewelry (NOT eBay)? archived

I have a pile of vintage costume jewelry that belonged to my grandmother. Most of it is not my style and I'll never wear it. I planned to sell at least some of it on eBay, but they have changed their selling policies so that it's much harder to make any decent profit from selling -- they now charge insertion fees in addition to final value fees, except if your listing starts at 99 cents or below. I don't see a lot of bidding wars in the vintage costume jewelry category and it's just not worth it to me to take the time for listing, shipping, etc. if I'm only going to make 99 cents per item. So does anyone know of another way I could unload some of this stuff? (Not planning on holding a yard sale anytime soon, and leery of advertising it on Craigslist...)
be aware that pretty much NOBODY is selling much right now, antiques/vintage-wise. it's dead out there.
if you aren't selling them because you desperately NEED the money, I'd hang onto them for a bit.
'cause you won't get nearly what they are "worth."

if you DO need some money, try etsy. they have a good vintage jewelry section.
good luck.

Maybe Renaissance consignment shop on Ridgewood Rd?

Or hold a "Virtual Yardsale" by posting an ad in the classified section...

Possibly Julius Oskenhorn or Walter Bauman. I know they sell vintage - possibly good costume as well. There's also a place in Madison that carries vintage - on Main Street on the left just before the center of town.

my friends Kim and Barry buy vintage jewelry. www.kimandbarrysales.com
they will give you a fair price, but of course, they have to make a profit on it when they sell it.

I'm trying to talk my sister into putting vintage items on her Etsy shop (she is currently just selling art).

i agree ebay is screwing up! the last few things I sold were sniped by dealers for nothing.

on ebay, you can do "Buy it now or best offer." you put a high buy it now price and see if you get any decent offers.
