It is a nightmare. Today it is closed between Pierson Rd and Park Ave. I live on Park and it has not been fun getting in and out of our driveway today. I wish they could do the work overnight instead. I am thinking tomorrow will be the same. It would have been nice to get some sort of warning since Valley St is such a busy road. Right now its all jammed up on our block with people honking and losing patience!
I got an alert from the MPD
Advisory - Valley St Construction
There will be ongoing work in the roadway during the weekdays
on Valley St between Millburn Ave and Tuscan Rd. The work is being
performed by NJ American Water and will typically last from
approximately 9 AM to 4 PM as long as no unexpected obstacles are
encountered. NJ American Water expects the work to continue until May
6th and then a 2nd phase of work to be performed in July. An update
will be sent out once details of the 2nd phase are known.

Does anyone know if it's open now? We need to go that way shortly.
I didn't walk home that way, but I'd say it's fine - there's no traffic backup past my home anymore, like there was ALL DAY LONG. I'd vote to go for it.
it was ridiculous... They have you turning right off of Valley up Pierson all the way up to Springfield but there is no traffic light or Police directing traffic letting cars on to Springfield Ave so you have to wait for someone to let you in.and only a couple of cars at a time can get across..nightmare
It's open now, just the usual rush hour traffic. Tomorrow they will be pretty much directly in front of my house I suspect that will cause Park to be closed at the Valley end.
Springfield Avenue has been a mess all day and I wondered why. I guess I know now.
Thanks, all. They seemed to be wrapped up for the day when we passed through, so yes, it was just the usual number of cars at around 6pm or so. Oh, I just saw that the post right above where I posted my question clearly stated that the work is from 9am-4pm. Good to know.

Some folks figured out that they could turn left toward the top of South Pierson and head up Indiana, where there's a light that allows you to turn left on Springfield. Just a FYI, in case this continues tomorrow.
Thanks all.
The errands got done, albeit, later than I had been planning.

That wasn't working so good when I was there because there was so much traffic on both sides of Springfield that the light would turn red again before anyone could get across..much better today

Anybody know where it's closed today; or where the closure will be over the next few days?
Thanks for any assistance.
