What's the difference b'twn regular and husky? archived

For instance, if your child has outgrown regular size 8 because of waist and length but a regular 10 would be too big, would a husky 8 fit the bill? I can't seem to find a size chart giving the differences b'twn the two sizes.
Yes a husky 8 would do it or even smaller in Husky. I don't have a size chart, but my son fits into a 16 regular (waist only..way too long in length) and is a 12 Husky.

husky is a wider cut..it's like a size plus. I don't think it provides for greater length however.

I think the length is the problem more so than the waist. I hate taking him in to try on clothes but I think I may have to do so. He's growing so fast and his clothes just aren't keeping up.

not for Monster Son it won't, different manufacturers and different styles from the same manufacturer may fit completely different even though marked the same size.

recently had to return a couple pair that were marked 10 Slim because they were too tight (even without the elastic cinch thingies unbuttoned).
I've found that the Wranglers 10 Slim Cargo jeans fit well now, and whatever the brand/style of 10 Slim jeans was I bought at Target that had the skull on the back pocket was.

of course now you can never tell if he's wearing clean or dirty jeans since they all look the same.

oh yeah, any size eights are way to short, and size 12 just fall off.

It has been my experience that boys do not shrink, so I'd go with the 10 and a belt.

Gap sells great boys pants with elastic threaded through the waistband that allows a lot of adjustment but don't look like elastic-waist pants, a sticking point when my guys started caring about clothing.

Kibbe, have you tried Old Navy 10 slim? ON slims are working well for Vigettes no. 2 & 3. PLus, they have the elastic on the inside of the jeans.

Kibbeboy would not fit a slim. He's not chunky but he's thicker in the waist than his older brother and taller. I purchased some 12's, yes 12's, for him they were totally snug in the waist. They were from JC Penney, so Monster does have a point there about manufacturers. A few of his Old Navy and Gap jeans fit nicely in the waist but are getting way too short. If he wears high tops or his boots, they're fine because the short fall is camouflaged.

So funny! Well, I would go for something really long and cuff it, this way at least he gets some wear out of it!

We go with a 10 Husky from Crazy Eights. They are perfect for big bear. Kibbe...Livingston mall is calling your name babe!! 2nd floor near food court.

From your last post, I'd say get the next size # up in the Gap/Old Navy jeans that work at the waist, but in slims for the extra length. I grew to love ON at that age when everything was changing so quickly!! We went through some serious size gyrations: 12 huskies that I had to hem (!!) to 12 Husky, unhemmed, to 14 Slim. At least ON is cheap!

my 8yr-old is skinny also...size 7's are too big in waist & even with the elastic-pulls they sometimes look frumpy & bumpy--length is fine---but I'm with monster I found the slims at Target are great-they fit her perfectly. I always look but it's hard to find slims in most stores.

Mamma, I've never been in Crazy Eights and never knew anyone who had -- thanks! So I'll try them, Old Navy an the Gap. Hopefully he can find something that fits and won't be too short by the spring.

Crazy 8 is GREAT! My kids love the clothes there. They have cool designs...guitars, surf logo stuff, etc. And it's all made very well with good cotton. Nice t-shirts are under $10. They are a Gymboree company.

Here's their website...check out their stuff...
