What great (or not so great) prezzies did you get? archived

Let's see, I got a bottle of *Brunello de Montalcino*, my favorite red wine, some books and CDs. And from my mother, a book called "Jewtopia."

I am sitting here all snuggled up in my pjs and a book thinking I am so happy that my kids are happy with their presents and are blissfully leaving me alone. I guess that is my best present.

I got to spend most of Saturday with my son. I can't think of a better present than that.

This will sound dorky, and like something my grandma would've said, but all 3 of us are getting along and happy. And no one is actively sick. The kid's a bit bored, but that's to be expected at 13.

Oh, and ...
Tom Jones Reloaded CD that includes "Kiss"
the Tony Bennett Duets CD
Al Jarreau/George Benson CD

Worst?
My daughter accidentally wrapped as presents for me: new fuel pump for a 55 Chevy, and a box of packing peanuts!

I got books and DVD's. so I am happy

Worse?
Am missing getting something romantic and more personal

I got some really nice and thoughtful gifts from my kids, friends, colleagues and clients.

A day at "Bliss" spa
A microwaveable aroma therapy neck pillow
A beautiful sweater/scarf set
A wonderful very large long burning air filtering soy candle
Really nice earrings
A beautiful necklace
A autographed CD from my favorite Austrian Artist
An acre of Jungle adopted in my name through the "Nature Conservancy" program
A bottle of Luis Roederer Cristal 2000 Champagne (That darn bottle costs $250. I will feel decandent when I drink that with Mem the day before we go on vacation)

but the most thoughtful gift was one of the gifts from my kids:

A large framed picture of my dog "Sarge" who is at the end of his life.

Wow now that I listed it all I realize I made out like a bandit this year.

Best of all is that the last couple of days have been filled with laughter, love, and friendship.

A true very Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you all.

A cute little lime green IPod, which I now have to figure out how to use!

A new car which is supposed to be "my" car, but is really my husband's newest toy (and isn't actually a Christmas gift, but was just a coincidence that we got it now). It's got a big old Hemi engine and he got a magnetic skull and cross bones at the auto accessories store yesterday, which he stuck above the Hemi emblem on the back! Oy vey--SO not me. He took children #1 and #2 with him to visit his mom (today is her birthday) and he was all spaced out about something and forget to kiss me or say goodbye on the way out. When I called him on it he told me he was daydreaming and I said--half joking--"about what, the navigation system?" Turns out I was right and he was!

Oh, and a great new kitchen in which to make Christmas breakfast!

And, best of all, children #1 and #2 DID NOT FIGHT AT ALL over the shared Gameboy! So far, so good.

All in all a really nice day in our house (aside from the fact that I still feel kinda crappy and was up 'til 2 A.M being Santa)!

Now to try on the nice clothes hubby bought me--which I'm sure will not fit.

Merry Christmas all.

Hey, Matb, what car did you guys finally buy.

Great Prez part 2:
I got my youngest son a box of Auntie Anne's make at home pretzels (we love them at the mall) and he just made ten of them. YUM!

I got tickets to two SOPAC shows! Eddie Palmieri on 25 Jan and Benny Green / Russell Malone Duo on 3 Feb!

Oddest gift: my MIL gave me 2 vintage minks (supposedly) with really puffy shoulder pads that make me look like Alexis Carrington. It will be fun to eventually rework them into something somewhat fashionable and warm. (I would not buy new fur for those who are about to pounce on me.)

Most practical gift: money from my in-laws to buy a new laptop.

Best gift of all: creating magic without spending a ton of $$$ by buying my kids a few specific things they love and will use creatively.

What will make me happiest: our gift to each other, agreeing to have the majority of the house painting done by pros. Being surrounded by my color choices will go a long way in making this house feel like home. (I hope!)

I got - for the FOURTH year in a row - a clogged toilet and a visit from a plumber. Courtesy of my Mother in Law. When the plumber came out this morning, he said - "our records show we were out here last year on the same day"

I said - if you go back two more years you will find the same thing.

100% true story.

What does your MIL have to say about that?!!!

nothing, that's her charm

That is charming....

I think your MIL needs to start hosting Christmas at her place.:shamed:

Actually, although I don't know if you can call it a gift, was that we had probably the nicest, hassle free Christmas we've had, maybe forever. Two years ago we were in the middle of getting ready to put our house on the market and it was a very bitter sweat Christmas. Last year we were living in a short term rental house and all our Christmas "stuff" (and we have a lot) was in storage. This year we were in our new house, had our stuff and the kids were both home and in good moods. Even the obligatory trip to Staten Island to have dinner with my wife's sister and her daughter was laid back and pleasant. The youngest kid was an eighth grader and the older nieces are now "refined" young ladies (11th and 12th graders) so things were a lot calmer than when the kids were little. Overall, it was about the nicest Christmas we have had in a long time.

I also got a bunch of shirts, gloves and a really cool power screwdriver, but nothing like a Rigid K7500!!!

I got a Ridgid K7500 for ya, babe....

Buzz, LMAO!!!:rolling:

1 hand knit silk scarf
1 fossil key wallet
2 ralph lauren shirts
1 pair of adidas Pro Model S in Orange - yeah baby
1 FineDrive GPS (although I was told I had to share)

It was a great holiday in the house of hoops...

Number 2 daughter made abstract origami gifts for all of us. Very nice.

Wife got me a nice shirt. I'm a dolt and forgot to wear it today.

Thanks to those who participated in the "last minute Christmas tree thread." I got a very nice tree very cheap on Christmas eve at the place just beyond Rt 22.

You'd think I was crazy, but I did all my shopping on Saturday. It was practically a breeze. I guess all the online shopping leaves the bricks-and-mortar stores a little emptier.

we got a baby. The best gift EVER!
