We Truly Have Lost It

Four Dallas PD now dead.  I've no words or any rational explanation for the *****show this nation has become.

We created this.  Spreading of guns, rouge cops, invasion of Iraq, Patriot Act, etc.  Makes me sick.

I agree.  None of this absolves the killer in Dallas but much of our mess is avoidable.   In a nation of 300 million guns, no one should be surprised if the police are crazy and the citizens are crazier.

ETA:  Can we blame any of this on Obama?

is it possible that there are gun enthusiasts somewhere in the U.S. who just might now admit that maybe, just maybe the U.S. has too many guns in circulation?

I'm well aware that the law is settled on this matter and people have a legal right to own firearms. But I'm just suggesting that from a practical standpoint, maybe too many people have guns. Maybe our culture celebrates guns and gun ownership a little too much. Because in this case the whole "good guy with gun" myth clearly has no relevance. There were literally hundreds of "good guys with guns" in Dallas, and they couldn't stop an ambush.

move this to the soapbox...

Yes.

Texas is an open carry state. They showed a suspect openly carrying an assault rifle at the rally. There's not much you can do when a nutjobs are allowed to openly carry guns with LE not having the power to stop them.

Imagine if we had open carry in NJ. I could openly carry my weapon and in a fit of insanity easily shoot up a neighborhood or school.

Its insane. And I don't need to hear from the NRA telling us proliferation of weapons and open carry makes us safer. Where were the NRA patriots when this occurred?

ps - I see the suspect carrying was not the perp. Still, my comments on open carry apply.

As you're part of establishment, thanks for owning up.

As of 8/1, you have the right to carry on campuses of Texas public universities. Can't see anything going wrong with that. Gives new meaning to "trigger warning."

No offense taken, and you're probably right.

aha!  No wonder I couldn't move it.

In today's America the deranged wreak havoc with extremely powerful weapons.  We are left weeping, fearful and mourning in every aftermath; we are psychologically wrecked with every live action slaughter on social media.  I wish that I could believe that this massacre in Dallas is the end of it. We all know that it isn't.  We are swimming in a sea of guns.  There is nothing to stop the next event and the one after that.  Nothing.  And each time there is a mass shooting, the firearms fly off the shelves as all manner of people stock up in fear.

For the first time in my life, I have friends and family seriously talking about leaving this country; telling me I need to renew my passport.

It's come to this.

Lord Pablum is just fine with our current armed militia, waiting to fight against the tyranny of the militarized police forces.

No, I'm not.  But I'm ok with cops wearing rouge.

If only all the police had guns.... wait.. nevermind.
