Waste Pipe Replacement

We need to have the waste pipe (probably original in our 1929 house) replaced. Anyone have any recent experience doing this? Any ballpark on price or recommendations for plumber appreciated. Thanks in advance.

This is generally a costly endeavor (at least 5-8K), but there are a lot of variables.  The depth of the pipe and the length will determine how much digging is required.

I had a talk with a friend of mine who is a plumber about it.  Big range of costs depending on a lot of factors.  The one piece of advice he gave is if you're digging that huge of a trench from the street to the house it's worth it to replace your water line at the same time.  It's not a big incremental cost and once you fill in that trench you can breathe a bit of a sigh of relief that water will flow into (and out of) your house unimpeded for a few decades at least.

If you're (also) talking about the interior waste stack, you could be looking at quite a bit more than just $5-8k.  We had ours examined for possible replacement during our kitchen/bath reno as once everything (tile, cabinets, flooring, etc etc) went in, there was no going back without a major upheaval and rebuild.  Thankfully the thing was fine.
