Washer repair DIY

Our Whirlpool washer (about 12 years old) squeaks but only when in the agitation cycle. Some online research indicates that it might require new motor and isolation couplings. My model does not use a drive belt. Has anyone else had this issue and how was it resolved? Doesn't seem worthwhile to pay a repair guy to fix an old washer.

If all you need is a drive belt, a semi-handy person can do that for you by simply opening the back and replacing.

Since you posted that there is no drive belt, I'd look up the cost of the parts at repair clinic.com, and if it wasn't too bad and you were up for it fix it yourself. I repair all my stuff, and it usually isn't too tough. Worst thing that could happen is that you screw up, get stuck for the parts cost, and buy a new machine anyway.
